can someone give me some info in the difference between the two. mabe a picture of a 223 and a 6.8 side by side. never seen a 6.8 round. what would it take to install on the ar15? will the clips interchange?
the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!!

To convert from a 223 to a 6.8 you will need a new bolt, barrel, and mags. Or you can buy a 6.8 complete upper and 6.8 ammo cost a little more for good ammo.

6.8 on left and 223 on the right

223 shots a .224 bullet depending on twist rate of your barrel up to say a 70 gr bullet at somewhere between 2650 fps and 3100 fps, The 6.8 is a .277 bullet and depending on twist of your barrel you can shoot anywhere between 85 and 130 gr bullets from anywhere around 2400 fsp to 3100 fsp, The mags are the same size as a standard ar mag but the follower is different. You can use a 223/5.56 mag for 6.8 but you might get a jam, mine will shoot flawlessly with a 6.8 mag but if I use my 5.56 magpul it jams on every other round and im only loading 5-10 rounds at a time. I am going to use my 6.8 for anything inside 300 yards and if im going farther I will go 308, and if Im just varmit hunting 223.

How many 6.8 rounds can you run in your 556 mags? I could only get 6 or 7 to run right. Just decided to buy 6.8 30 rd mags.

.223 shoots a .224 diameter bullet ranging from 32-80 grains
6.8spc shoots a .277 diameter bullet ranging from 80-115 grains

Can shoot up to 150 grain in a Bolt action gun.

The 6.8 is around 500 fps slower

Any 6.8 upper will fit your AR-15 lower; magazines are cartridge specific (you might have limited success using a 223 mag).

For comparable speeds...
223- typically 55-75gr bullets
6.8- typically 85-110gr bullets

Quality ammo is key as well. Hornady 110gr BTHP are good and SSA makes great ammo also.(85gr TSX,110gr TSX,115gr OTM, and Pro Hunters are good to)
