I am in the military stationed at Ft. Hood, and fresh off of my latest deployment to Iraq. I am interested in finding hunting opportunities in this area. Right now I don't have a lot to offer except maybe some labor for your efforts. I don't know alot about the area. If anyone can help, please contact me hjere, or at ron.kellyjr@us.army.mil

Ron! hang around here for a while, a couple of us are putting together a hunt for vets this year, maybe we can get you in on it?
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Thanks, and I will hand around. I'm new to this, but I like what I see so far. I look forward to hearing any input that you guys may have. I've hunted for about 20 years now, but since rejoining the Army, I haven't had any time to go. This year I should have plenty of time, and I am looking into a few different options including Ft. Hood itself. I love to bowhunt, but also love to reach out and touch someone when gun season open. Hope to hear from others soon. Thanks for all your help.

That's a pretty high fee to pay, just to hunt dove. Not enough whisky in Canada, to get me to do that. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Sounds like a good hunt.

Hey guys, thanks a lot. Will do on the contacts. I'm an ex-11B, from the 82nd and the 25th, now I'm an 88M with 96th Trans "Heavy Truck". I was a gun truck commander during our last deployment. I will shoot for Monday if possible, after making the proper contacts, but I have to move my mom and dad this Friday and Saturday, plus go get my lisence finally. I'm a little behind the power curve right now. I'm in school for another week after this. But seeing the doves flying around here has put the itch in me to get the gun out. If I can make it, I guess the Marines are a somewhat small price to pay for the first dove hunt in 6 years. Sounds like great fun. And at least a case of shells before I drop the first bird. WOW!

Oh. I joined the first time in 1986 fresh out of high school. That's when I went to the 82nd. I got out in 1990 and then after 9-11, finally decided to come back into this thing in 2002. Right back into the infantry. I reclassed in 2005 to present job. It's ok, but career suicide. I'm up for staff and trying to make points, but that's where I'll stay until retirement if I decide to go that long. Olny 11 more years. YEAH!!!

Got to retrain them marines for fetching. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nuts.gif) They hard jaw the birds and eat the heads off when they are hungry. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nuts.gif) And watch the gut pile constantly or they will have feather everywhere!

Welcome remington3006 and thanks for your service. Come join us in Eastland. marine0311 has several posts on the hunt and he said he has plenty of room for vets. Hang around and these great guys will help you out. You might also look at TPWLD drawing hunt and the Annual Public Hunting land Permits. Great programs but you will have to hurry because the deadline to apply is coming up Sept 6th drawing hunts. You can find information online and get it in before deadline if you hurry.

Thanks for standing up Mike and doing all that you and Roy have done. That would be great. I knew you would sound off. I think marine0311 is already making plans for next year and annual. Congratulation on the MOD also.
Thanks to THF and all involved! James ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cup.gif)

Get your FREE license if you're still active and something will come about this year. Dove are fairly thick here in Eastland Co. Good luck and welcome home.

Thank you for your service to our country.
I-20 goes thru Eastland Co. It is west of Ft. Worth and Weatherford. The county seat, Eastland, is right on the interstate.
Good hunting.
