Gents, I really wanted a 1911 as I am on the hunt for a 45acp. It seems all the 1911s in my price range, 600-700 bucks, are made overseas and imported. Is the Para the only 1911 made here any more in this price range?? Its got some bad reviews and makes it hard for me to buy one. Do any of you know of any other 1911s in this price range??
If not Im thinking hard on a Smith M&P, at least they are made here, Im just leary of the 6.5 pound trigger pull. Maybe a Ruger also, shoot me some American made pistols to look at. Dano

Has Colt gone up that much, they were around that price.

Personally Id just wait and save up a couple hundred more dollars and get a Kimber, Colt, or STI rather than buy something you dont want just because its American made.

My Kimber Stainless II was $720 earlier this year at a gun show here in Houston. No additional features, like night sights, but all Kimbers come with a match grade barrel as standard. Even the cheapest and most stripped down Kimber, like mine, is an excellent shooter. I'm a little above average shooter and I can punch 2" hole at 15 yards and put a whole box of 50 throught that whole. Hell, I've even hit a 4'x4' board at 200 yards (free standing) 3 out of 5 times. Even hit that board 1 out of 5 at 285 yards. And the only mod I have is a $12 Hogue grip.
It is a vastly superior weapon when compared to the Para's and RRI's of the world. And in my opinion, still marginally better than Colt and Springfield.
And Kimber's are proudly made right here in the USA in Yonkers, New York.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

GT Distributors is located at NW Hwy and Shiloh Rd, it's a new store in Dallas with some great prices LEO only sales, or has always been in the past. I believe they sell to civilians too now, they had two prices listed on most pistols, the LEO and civilian price. The STI only had one price, but as stated before I wasn't aware that the lower end STI's were imported.

How about the Rock Island Arms ? Good price, good pistol. USA? If you're talking about Rock Island Armory, they're made in the Phillipines (but on original USGI machinery, so I've heard)
