Now I am attending one of the best gunsmithing schools in the country and doing exceptionally well. But I would never argue with an internet "John Browning". The Howa 1500 is a good rifle, so is the 700. Well said, and best of luck at the school. But someone here who's never shot anything except a few stupid hogs and some deer will say you don't have a clue what your talking about, it's amazing. Bill

i shoot a howa 1500 in .270 and it is a great rifle imo. im upgrading the scope this spring with a conquest. after that i cant see my self really needing any other deer rifle.

I know lots of folks who build custom guns with 700 actions. Dont know of one yet who built one on a vanguard action. Not that it hasnt been done, but i have never heard of it.
Its weatherby's bargin gun. They are good guns though, have had a couple. But its not a 700. Just my .02
