I own Remington 700's and I own a Vanguard. The Remingtons will outshoot the Vanguard everytime.

Remington 700 without question is a superior rifle.

It would appear that the vital section of almost every game animal in north america is large than 1 MOA... I'd have to say it doesn't matter what we're shooting in that case so long as we enjoy shooting...

I don't think you should be shooting at eyeballs or ears anyways.

Why not.

The brain / central nervous system is about as vital as it gets.
Nothing runs off wounded or lives after the skull is blown apart and the brain is scattered in pieces or liquefied.
If you or your rifle aren't capable of shooting an inch or less then I agree, you shouldn't take those shots.

How many heart lung shots do we hear about where the animal runs 30 ~ 100 yards or farther or is found dead a day to week later, or, never recovered at all.
That's what happens when folks think rifles capable of 1 moa or less don't matter.

Aside from varmints, I always saw people taking headshots on deer as being... well I don't have anything really nice to say about those people.

Let's just say I think it's silly.

Me and my rifle are plenty capable of doing anything anyone else can do in a hunting situation, thanks. I shoot guns at animals, not at targets. I have no need to impress people with a piece of paper when my wall is plastered in horns and hides.

So you think head shots are somehow unethical silly or only taken to brag about.

Sounds like your experience with anything to do with rifles is very limited, obviously you haven't been shooting or around rifles for long.
I won't lose any sleep over our difference of opinions about the ability to shoot, shot placement or rifle accuracy.

I enjoy meeting up at the range with like minded folks shooting paper and having a good time.
I like to shoot, practice and test my hand loads. I learn something new every time I go.
Fun times with family and friends, meat in the freezer and accurate rifles are my trophies.
No pieces of paper or horns and hides on my walls

You realize that the average hunter does not know what bedding or trigger jobs are? I consider myself average.

My only point was that I hunt animals, not paper.

I enjoy having fun and all that as well.

I'd be surprised if the average hunter has no clue about trigger jobs and bedding.

With out hunting paper how do you determine in what zip code your bullet is going to hit when you mush the trigger.
You have to shoot it at something other than animals to site in a scope, determine which ammo your rifle like best and in general to ensure accuracy before slinging lead at hair.

Some of those guys at Academy might know what they are talking about...some not so much. I used to sell guns at Academy during high school. Now I am attending one of the best gunsmithing schools in the country and doing exceptionally well. But I would never argue with an internet "John Browning". The Howa 1500 is a good rifle, so is the 700.
