I have a lease in Jack and one in Young as well. Have hunted the one in Young for the last 4 seasons. Never had a problem taking deer until this year both myself and my son. This year, even with 2 places - neither of us even shot. I passed on a spike I could have shot and we could have taken doe but nothing 13" or bigger at least during the day (had some nice ones on camera at the place in Jack County at night). Worst year I've seen. Hell, I didn't even hunt but one weekend after Thanksgiving...sort of gave up, it was bad. I still need to go back and get my cameras. Will probably find they were having deer orgies every day since I wasn't there Earl

I got the biggest buck I've ever seen at our lease this year but the total number of deer that I saw was horrible. I took 2 does and one buck total, not to mention several hogs. Does were even hard to get because most of the ones I saw had yearlings with them. I always pick out single does. We are in Llano county and the lake is across the street so water is not a problem. I saw soooo many deer in camp while I was warming up the four wheeler. I would shine my flashlight around and they would be underneath the trees eating acorns. I probably saw more deer that way than at the feeder. The buck I got was called in on a doe bleat. If I hadn't called him in, I would probably would have never seen him.

Quite a few parts of North Central Texas didn't see deer this season. I blame the lack of rain in October/November that normally helps rot out the acorns. In Erath county, we were seeing plenty of deer until season began and then poof.. no more deer. Not even the ones just passing through. I blanked out this year. Some of my friends shot decent deer in Bosque county, but none of them were hitting the feeders at the time.. Just not a good year for bringin em in.
Maybe that will mean good things for next year.

Plenty of deer in Archer County during season. We had quality bucks harvested on Flying M Ranch starting Youth weekend ( 140" 10-pointer) and ending about the second week of Dec. ( 145" 10-pointer). Best buck harvested was approx. 155" 10-pointer on Thanksgiving weekend. 2010 was a great year for us on Flying M Ranch.

Same as always in Llano County. No hunting to it, just harvest.

Erath county near bluff dale saw more bucks than usual. ,none at the feeders, always eating the oats or rye, sometimes catch them under the spanish(red oaks) eating acorns. We are up in the chalk, lots of cedar, liveoak, redoak, none of that pesky blackjack or postoak that you find down in the sandyland. My best stand is on a ridge that has been cleared except for redoaks, deer stroll through abouy 5:30 pm looking for acorns.I can usually count on seeing 8 or 9 different bucks each season, but i hunt almost every evening during gun season.I love my wife!
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.
