Shot placement is important regardless of which cartridge you shooting.

nothing wrong with that if you like owning guns that collect dust, the 280 aint got nothing on the 7-08 all done in a short efficient cartridge.
Personnaly thats why I like it, but if you like big bangs and recoil go for it.
Might as well go all the way and go 7 rum, wheres does it stop.
For me its the short cartridge, the .308 base.

I don't care for the rums, they are not really on my want list, I like the magnums, and I really like the 7/08 and also will own a .260 before I am done smile. The 6.5/284 is the on the list too

I just picked up a 7-08 in model seven simply because I like my wifes .260 model seven so much. I really dont understand why the .260 never took off and the 7-08 did. I guess im going to find out and maybe report back on it. In the right hands (hers not mine) the .260 will lay down .5 moa all day long. We will see what the 7-08 gives.

Side note: Her trigger is great while mine sucks. What can I do to a model seven trigger. I know, wait till she sleeping and switch triggers!!

I really like the one my dad has had for the longest. Finally got him some 110s loaded in it so he'll shoot it again.

My wife bought me a Winchester Featherweight 7-08 for christmas last year and it is by far my go to gun. It has taken whitetail, axis, blackbuck, red stag and I couldnt ask for more. I have never had to go more than 20yds to find a down animal and most were DRT. I have owned many different calibers but I will never get rid of that one.

Wow, this thread exploded. Lol.

7-08 is a great round and the .243 is not even a comparison for it, to be honest. Regardless of shot placement or any hypothetical you could come up with.

BMD may hate my Weatherby, but he is no doubt knowledgeable when it comes to long guns. His daughter is picking it up well and she will no doubt be a well respected poster on here in the coming years.

I think there is too much bickering over something so simple, and the fact that it is usually the same people specifically targeting BMD is really just GLARING at me in the face.

Aside from that I'll go back to my original statement, I can't even see how one would compare the .243 to the 7-08. It's not even in the same class.

Have to agree with you the .243 and the 7/08 are night and day! I really don't hate your weatherby just giving you grieve, tree are alot of great guns out there, I prefer the Remington actions in case I decide to go custom. More often than not it is the loose nut behind the trigger, rings, bases, or cheap optics that are the problem, I have shot rugers, weatherby's, savage and mausers that have all had shot great, I just like Stirring it up a little. The Remington action is my favorite, but there alot of good actions and rifles on the market.

Lol, I know BMD, I was just kidding. I know you've secretly been looking to steal my weatherby!
