A Savage rifle if kinda like having a girlfriend with a Pamela Anderson body and instincts with a plain Jane face. It ain't no trophy show horse, but it sure gets the job done.

I'm guessing there just weren't any Remmingtons at this comp then?

http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2009/08/savage-f-tr-team-world-beaters-on-a-budget/

Wherever you and the rest of you Savage haters are getting your info about these guns not being shooters, needs to refresh it's information. It looks like Savage's aren't the junk ya'll are making them out to be.

I'd be upset if I had to worry about my rifle going off when I close the bolt or having to buy an expensive model to ensure I get a model that is without issues

Oh yeah, I went there bolt

I was gonna say something but didnt want to get personal. After all, this argument is pointless in the first place. However, its good entertainment on a boring Tuesday night.

You are correct, it was just Gamo and Salvage, Gamo won!

X2, I'm getting tired of the THF arguing over Savage VS Remington, we should agree that both rifles are the best and move on.

I was on a hunting trip out in Colorado when I was younger with my Father and Uncle. I always toted around my 30-06 Weatherby and on this particular trip I just so happened to drop it while we were stalking a sheep I had been wanting. The scope looked like a damned tire iron, and we had left our other rifles at camp. My uncle however, had a Savage 25-06 he had bought off a friend for $100 the week before. Had some crap scope on it, but he had hand-loaded the rounds and promised me it would perform.

Well, that little Savage did indeed perform. In fact, it performed once for me and once for my uncle. I shot that sheep at 416 yards and dropped him, then followed up with my uncles sheep 2 days later at well over 300 yards. The gun was light, rugged, and that hand-load was some real fire.

I used that rifle a few more times on deer and exotics back in Texas and never really had any wish to go back to my 30-06 unless I was in the blind or somewhere that didn't require me dragging it around.

I like Savage rifles. I'll shoot savage rifles. And I own Weatherbys, Brownings, Remingtons, etc. with Zeiss, Sworo, etc. on top of them. That little $100 rifle with a Bushnell saved my butt when I needed it and kept me happy on all my spot-and-stalks.

It's all personal preference when it comes down to it. Why even argue? It's as pointless as a car argument. You can always make whatever brand and type you want better looking and better performing. So who cares?

I don't even have Salvage in the top 5.
