The stock's are fine, It's that Zip Gun looking action that generates complaint's.
It looks like it was built by Home Depot.

I think the Classic series look good (14 and 114). Now, if they'd only come up with a better way to disguise that barrel nut....., looks like something you'd get in the plumbing section at the hardware store. Sure makes barrel swapping easy though with a minimal amount of tools!

Do any of you Savage guys do your own barrel swaps?

I don't see anything wrong with a savage yeah some of there stocks are ugly but they shoot well after the holidays I'm getting a savage 22-250

I'm sure all the deer I have taken in the past with my Savage .270 thought it was really ugly. Good Lord, now we have a thread about how ugly a certain brand of rifle is? So I guess you need to hunt a buck that's pretty with a rifle that is too.

For the money there are some great looking and shooting rifles available, Dakota now owned by Remington, Cooper, Blaser, Mauser, and Lazeroni to mention a few. TC Icon is another sweet looking and shooting rifle IMO.

Some guns are more pleasing to the eye than others but if you believe pretty is as pretty does then there are some pretty rifles that may not be attractive visually but certianly are in performance, my Remington 788 is in that group.

The part of a Savage I have never gotten used to in looks is the rear of the bolt and bolt handle. It almost looks like an after thought to me. Crap we need a handle to operate this thing, lets just screw one on the back. Functional, easy assembly it just doesn't look good to me

The rear of the receiver looks like they converted an in-line muzzleloader. I think they wanted to show up Remington for creating the old 710.

I use my ugly gun to kill ugly critters, so what's the big deal? Sure if I was a bench shooter I might worry about what other people thought about the looks of my gun, but I shoot practically.
