I see a lot of people posting on here that they think the savages are "ugly". I look at the one I have and then look at a Rem 700 and I guess I just dont see it. What are you guys seeing that is ugly?

I dont like that one JCB but the one I have is a plain stock with a nice walnut finish that I did. (sanded off old the old golden finish) Looks nice now. Other than that stock pictured what is ugly?

Judging from your statement in red, and the fact you felt the need to refinish it then you must have thought it was ugly too.

I refinished the stock because I prefer a dark finish vs. the old 70's golden finish with a high gloss poly on it. Was simply done out of boredom. I was just curious at some Rem fans opinion.

Some guns are just ugly. Nothing realy wrong with that if you dont mind a ugly ok shooting gun. J/K. Remington guys and gals just like to poke fun.

Savage needs to work on the stocks. I can live with the bolt, it is not that bad, I would say on par with the Remmy bolt, they equally suck. The shape in their stocks is lacking as well. Now throw that same barreled action in a different stoock it is not near as bad. This is my Savage tactical that I threw into an aftermarket stock and it made a world of difference in both look and feel.

Why you ask, do I think Savage is ugly? Because its a Savage and not a Remington.

I think they are ugly, but I have several remingtons and several savages. Out of the box my savages outshoot all of my remingtons (accept for my 112 FSAK .300 RUM... it shoots like crap)

In general all synthetic Savages AND Remingtons are ugly, as are all cheap guns. Some of the ones with wood stock are OK but when talking about cheap starter rifles with synthetic stocks, what can one expect?
With that said, I do have couple Savages in my closet. Both shoot great and aren't really all that ugly (wood stock 110C and synthetic Choate stock 10FP). They aren't the prettiest guns out there but they do their job.
