I like the NAP bloodrunners 3 blade. They are a mechanical but take a look and they have alot of the characteristics of a fixed blade as well. They to me are the best of both worlds.

I have tried the bloodrunners. I was told they would fly like a field point. First doe I shot at at 30 yards and it flew about a foot high, thought it was me. Bobcat came by, shot over his back at 10 yards. Took them to the house and shot them at my Glendel buck and completely flew over his back at 20 yards. Shot at my Block the next shot on the lowest diamond, flew completely over the block and hit the fence and busted the Bloodrunner. Grabbed my field points and Robin Hooded one and cut the fletchings off. If I have to tune a mechanical like I do a fixed, I would just assume shoot a fixed. So thats what I have gone too now is the Magnus Buzzcuts. I've got them where they are at least grouping within a couple of inches at 30 yds. Still not as tight as my field points, but then they might not ever be.

The problem a lot of times when shooting mechs is the bow. How much KE are you getting with your setup? I wouldn't shoot a mech if I'm getting less than 50# of KE. I shoot Grim Reapers and NAP 2 blade Bloodrunners. Never lost an animal (knock on wood), but came close due to a bad shot. My bow is tuned to shoot Stingers, Reapers, adn Bloodrunners all within an inch of each other.

When I shoot a fixed blade it's a Slick Trick. A lot of people are concerned with function, etc. and choose a fixed since they never fail to open. I loved the idea of the Rage 2 Blade with that giant 2" cut, but didn't like the blood trails, even on deer that were well struck they didn't seem to bleed well. Recently I discovered the new Grim Reaper 2" Cut Whitetail special. Now a 3 blade with a 2" cut got my attention.

Two weeks ago they killed 3 deer for me. The first was a large mature buck, cut both shoulder bones and produced the single best blood trail I've ever followed, 30 yards. The second was a 3 year old cull 6 point, shot was quartering away and entered the stomach on the right side, and exited about 2" behind the left shoulder. Found paunch at point of impact and was afraid we wouldn't find this deer. Lots of paunch too. Followed paunch for about 15 yards, then good blood for the next 110 yards. Never had to bend over. Deer easily recovered. Last, was a spine shot on another cull. DRT.

If you've got enough punch to push these things through they will help even on a marginal shot. I've been searching for these broadheads.

Oh, and two of them have been cleaned, and resharpened, and are back in the quiver for next weekend. The third one was loaned to the friend that spine shot the deer and he said it broke. I never saw the head.
