This is just me but I don't see how some women work. I have seen where if he spends so much on say a gun, she will run out & spend that much or a purse or jewelry. Or if he buys this scope, she finds out hope much & buys that much in clothes. It shouldN'T be that way. That's not how things should work. But then again that's me. I hunt & fish whenever I can & am a jeans/t-shirt girl. Nothing designer here. OK off my

my wife is a jeans & tshirt kind of woman as well, but she has no problems going out and dropping some serious money on clothing, jewelry that she won't wear, stilettos, purses/wallets, rifle of her own, tractor, etc. She works hard for her $, I see no reason in not letting her blow quite a bit of it on things I don't understand.

Hunting was not the reason for the divorce, however an upside no more complaints about my hunting.

My son loves hunting and fishing as much as I do and he's my hunting/fishing buddy. So she likes the fact I take him hunting and fishing. It's a guy thing and she believes a guy needs to be a guy.
It wouldn't matter anyway. I'd go no matter what she said and in the end my wife would understand because I'm a guy. And she believes a guy does guy stuff.

I just put the days on the Calender and make sure that there is nothing else going on at that point. The deal is that for each week end of hunting there will be one that I take care of the 2 year old and the house while she gets to do what ever she wants. it is not a every other week end thing but it works out to be even by the end of the year. I also cook and clean as needed and take the 2 year old with me when I can to give her a break. I look at it as a give a take. There are times that I come home and she looks at me and says Take YOUR Daughter with you. Well that means the 2year old will be following daddy around for a while. It all works out in the end to go hunting as long as I am home when there are open weekends.

we've had some humdinger of arguments over hunting and fishing.
my biggest problem is with one friend in particular. Great guy (wife loves him too) but I have tried my hardest and i CAN NOT get home within an hour of when I say i'm going to with the guy no matter if we're fishing, hunting, or at the range. he's always got to do something else. wants to go around one more bend to see if they're biting there. wants to walk around a little bit more to check out another spot. wants to stop and grab something to eat on the way back. wants to shoot one more gun that he just bought. he's a busy self employed guy too so we have to stop so he can take care of whatever the flavor of the week is for his business.
i'll go with him to things but not if we're in one car. too many arguments caused by it to keep it up.

When asked to do something around the house or special occasion.ie, wedding anniversary or while I'm planning or packing for my trip/hunt.......I simply say " Listen, I've been working hard all year long and you know, this is my time of the year.... and I don't have time to do this right-now. So, when I get back , I'll take care of it "
So folks.......This time of year are my "Diamonds and Pearls" !

Don't get too cocky there guys. Your wife or girlfriend may tell you what a friend once told me his wife said to him before heading out for a night of coonhunting.

I do what I want (or can afford) and live with the fall out. Told her 20 years ago that if she couldn't live with it I would sign the divorce papers. June makes 25 years and she still complains. I'm just immune to it.

"I'm going to be sleeping with someone tonight. You decide who it will be." LOL, that's a good one and would make a fella think twice. Seriously though, my wife pretty much lets me do what I want. But then again, I do a lot of stuff for/with her too, so it balances out.

Two words: Strong Pimp Hand I just spit crown and coke on my dang phone.(3 words by the way) That's funny right there. My wife is great. I missed our first anniversary while in Canada hunting caribou. Almost cut our honeymoon short for an antelope hunt. And I'm pretty much at the ranch every weekend. From at least June thru january. There is always something to do on the ranch when your family owns it. She doesn't care to go out there much during season. But in the off season, she likes to take her horses out for a trail ride. Her and my daughters hobby is riding/showing reining horses. They do their thing, I do my thing, and we meet in the middle.

hehe, first in for most, let's agree no one, and I mean no one really knows how to keep a woman from complaining in the first place. Clearly from the posts, two classes of women out there. Group A, that get it, and Group B that don't. My wife ask that I give her more than a days notice before I go. All last year, I got the you going again bull and the chief complaint was letting her know the day before. So, this season, I've been letting her know two weeks in advance and reminding her the monday before the weekend, guess what, she is all woman in group B. (To be fair, I just dropped the I'm going Saturday and she didn't say a peep) My point is, that they are just gonna complain if you married someone that doesn't get hunting. You just got to work it out and let her know this is just apart of what you do. Otherwise, get a hotter wife from Group A. Group A

Tell her your going fishing instead. Tell her your going shopping. Tell her your going on a Atkins diet and your out of meat. Tell her your doctor wrote you a prescription for stress relief that includes going hunting. Tell her your taking the kids with you!(That always works for me!)
