Now, I have lived here for nearly 25 years. Just guessing, but I'm betting it's a high fence deer.

37 point and scored 289 and some change.

NOPE! that deer is the result of inbreeding specific genetics into does to get a pre-determined result. That buck IS NOT the result of natural breeding and selection. great trophy but should not be entered in any kind of record book.

There's an article below the picture that talks a bit about their operation and mentions that they have been introducing outside genetics. One of the owners is quote to say "this isn't your typical Jack County deer".

It's a cool looking buck.

The article says they can shoot other types of animals that are not wild to Jack. That would make it a high fence. Years ago you could shoot a lion there under another owner if you wanted. Just got to have the cash and want to shoot a animal that was kept in a cage with a e-collar on it.

Is High Fence Hunting a Good Thing for Sportsmen?

Article by Hal Herring. Uploaded on July 31, 2007

"Although animals in high-fence operations are almost always evaluated on the Boone and Crockett Club scale (which is also used to determine the harvest price), the club will not list any domestic animal, or any animal taken behind high fences, in its book of wild big-game records. Several years ago, responding to the proliferation of huge-horned, pellet-fed domestic elk and deer, B&C issued a statement specifically banning canned-hunt animals from record-book consideration if they have been "transported for the purpose of commercial shooting" or are "confined by artificial barriers, including escape-proof fenced enclosures."

So even IF this deer is a new world record it WILL NOT be listed in the B/C record book, so whats the point in paying 10 thousand dollars to kill a monster buck like that if all it is good for is hanging it on your wall. you can brag all you want that you killed a new world record buck but it really isn't a world record because it was bred in captivity.....

I'd imagine that deer cost a great deal more than $10,000. Might have to add a zero.

That place is less than 5 miles from my place. On Thanksgiving day, which was still pretty good rut around here, we drove by that ranch. There were three bucks standing by the fence, all with ear tags. Biggest was probably 145-150 and smallest around 130. We were 20 yds from em, stopped the truck, I got out and walked to 10 yards to take pics of these suckers, all the while my boys (2&6) are going crazy hollering at me to shoot 1. My point is these deer just casually meandered off into the brush like nothing was happening. Unusual behavior I thought for the rut to be on like it was. It was alomost like a bachelor group in Septemeber the way they acted. Makes me kinda wonder how these "hunts" on this place shake out.

It's Squaw Mtn Whitetails I believe. 1st high fence on right. Montgomery is on the left after it, and Lodge Creek Ranch is on the right down Roberts Branch Rd., after you pass Montgomery Properties.

My 6 year old was asking if they were pets since they had ear tags. Then told momma "our deer don't have no stupid ear tags". Kinda funny I thought.

I thought the same, but I can't find anything that actually says "Montgomery" in relation to this deer.

I know all the old timers here (I mean old guys), when they were younger and wanted a deer, they went to Squaw Mountain and found em one.

Stax08 put a pic of this deer on gamecam up in September. I'm nearly positive of it.
