My grandfather in law called me last night and said he has a mountain lion on the trail cam on the lease in Ozona. I should have the pictures the middle of next week sometime and will post them up for confirmation. He said he caught it on the camera at 9:58am on 11/27 yesterday morning. Not trying to stir the pot, just the story I got last night.

Talking about big black cats...last evening just after sunset.... Seriously can't wait to see the pics!

Looking forward to the pics. Love to see those critters, I have seen 7, 2 in Mississippi, one in Texas west of Camp Wood the other 4 were in Montana. They will certainly make deer nervious though.

Although it's kind of neat to have a cat on the lease it isn't so good when the deer start to move out of the area, and that is usually what happens.
A cat moves in because of plentiful food source, and then the food source moves out because of the cat.
Seen it happen a few times!

Nope, looking forward to seeing the pic's. I would take care of it ASAP or the deer will move out. My BIL has one on his place. His deer are gone now. I hope they get it soon.
If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

My inlaws have a lease in Ozona, and they have seen a mountain lion about 6 or 7 times the last 5 years.
Don't think they would hurt the deer population too much beings there are so many goats in the area. Seems like it would be much easier for them to catch a goat to eat.
The last sighting was turkey season two years ago. One of the guys got up in the middle of the night ot take a leak. He stepped out of the bus near the skinning rack when he noticed a cat crouched down eating scraps. His first thought was man thats a huge bobcat. When he started to move back towards the bus the cat turned around and bolted up the hill. He said thats when he noticed the tail looked as though it was as long as the body.
Everyone said the look on his face when he got back in the bus assured them he actually believed he saw a mountain lion and wasn't making anything up. That was the first time they saw one so close to the camp. Other times have been on the top of a rocky hill overlooking a large flat.
Thats why when I hunt out there I drive with my brights on, blow the horn all the way to the stand, and then kick every rock between the road and the stand. Not sure why I haven't killed anything out there yet. Maybe the lions ran them off.

I look forward to the pics as well. We have had 3 lions spotted on my old deer lease just NW of Ozona over the past several years.

Personally I'm hoping for the color of the cat to be jet black. Come on Texas black cat show yourself.

We will keep our eyes peeled for him. We are on the North East corner of Crockett county. Have y'all seen any Coyotes yet?

I haven't seen any coyotes, and haven't heard of anyone else on the lease seeing any either.
