Im trying to figure out the best way to irrigate one of my food plots. I would need to make about a 160 yard stretch to cover the entire plot. There is a stock tank at one end of the plot so that is were I plan to get the water from. Has anyone ever done this. Any suggestions on pumps and supply line?

You been seeing any piggys in granger? A friend of mine out in mason uses a v8 engine, but i'm not sure what kind of pump he is using. Uses it for his center pivot.

congrats on the pig. didn't you tell me a while back that your place is near 95 and the gabriel? I haven't been seeing any signs of pigs here, about 4 miles south of granger lake. Last activity i saw was in late april.

I use a 1.5" sprinkler pump, you can get them at home depot or lowes. Run them off a portable generator, I use heavy duty garden hose, with sprinkler heads attached to 3' poles. Can be moved where needed. texas

Does anyone think that a 160 gpm trash pump would be enough to supply 160 yards of garden hose with about 5 sprinkler heads.

I think I did what you want to do. Instead of a sprinkler type system which to work is going to have to be big and have a pump with a ton of power you might think about a simple soaker system. I bought the biggest gas powered water/trash pump I could get from Tractor Supply and ran 2" pvc on top every third row. I drilled a 1/4" hole about every 12" on both sides of the pipe. I just start the pump and pump it through the lines for about 6 hours once a week. The only thing I wish I would have done different is use 2" non rigid hose wit holes cut in it so I could roll it up and move it easier. I water three 5 acre plots this way. If yours are bigger you could water it in sections and move the pipe. Also make sure you put caps on each end of the hose or pipe.

It is mine. But I did not want anything perminant. The pump is low pressure and I take the water from a creek about 200 yards from the plots. They said at Tractor Supply I would burn the pump up pushing water that far but I change and check the oil on a regular basis and have never had a problem.I'll bet you could find some surplus used firehose somewhere and it would work.

I just looked at your sight, cool looking calls. Next time I am around Abilene I might have to look you up and buy one. If I can afford it.
