This deer was killed in Kansas, right Budman ? Story in the paper was a mixup. No need to apply for Grapevine next year b/c we all know there are no deer in Denton/Tarrany counties. What deer... Grapevine is a hog hunt only area. lol. I was about to say something. I lived on Lake Grapevine for 5 years, and I don't ever remember seeing a deer.

Thanks again for all the pats on the back. Hopefully, I will meet a few of you guys before our permits expire. Maybe have coffee and trade stories of our hunts. Buddy S. Congrats again Buddy...That is an awesome accomplishment!

Great Buck!!! Not to surprising. I live in Haslet, and if you drive some of the back roads around Alliance Airport up to Roanoke, you'll run across plenty of deer. I just haven't run across one LIKE THAT!!!!!!

I think it’s awesome to hear about some of the giants bucks around the Collin, Denton and Grayson county areas...I know when I drive around here now I’m really wondering what’s in some of the huge unincorporated bottom land in these areas.
They are in Dallas County too. I read about two bucks fighting in the street in East Dallas near White Rock Lake a couple weeks ago. Both bucks were chased by a city worker and into a metal fence. One buck hung up in the fence and later died. 6 point in this one [video:youtube]t-n7K6F8xDY The other one from Dallas I saw on a gun forum posted just a couple days ago, 10 point and 4 point in that one below [video:youtube]EqHYka-c3KU South Dallas I guess. Little to no hunting pressure in an ever expanding metroplex might really yield a large deer population in Dallas within the next decade.

I actually learned about the deer on Grapevine after watching a news segment about deer poachers in Southlake. If there are deer poachers, you know there are big deer. Not sure who ran the story either Fox 4 or Channel 8.
After that, I started noticing deer on Hwy 121 and 114 behind Bass Pro Shop. I'll seen some nice deer hit by cars on 121 north of the airport.

One of the best times to see the larger bucks on the COE lake property was a few years ago. 2006 I believe. That was when the lake level was low and the deer would get out on the wide shorelines to take advantage of the brine or salty deposits that leached out of the rock. Rock licking on the exposed shoreline for minerals was a popular activity for them and I would see them frequently when I was out fishing in my boat. Easy to pick out.

I did not take a pic of the 160+ deer at meat market. It wasn't my deer and the owner of the deer wasn't there, so I didn't feel like it was my place to snap a shot. It was a very, very nice looking deer. That is the only other deer I have seen out of there.

I know what your saying...I dropped my sons 8 point last year at the taxidermist and there was 174 inch typical 12 that another kid had shot off the family property...I really wanted to take that picture, but like you, I just didnt feel it was right.

Congrats on the deer! Sad to see my close to home spot is probably not gonna be accessible for many years to come though It is a tough place to hunt for sure, lots of thick thick stuff back in there. Nice deer though, congrats!!!!

I'm so happy for the guy that shot this deer i've been hunting out there for a very long time and the past 5 years i've shot good numbers of deer. Don't get me wrong BIG to the guy for shooting this deer but there is no way i would or have ever told people about the deer out there. But don't let people get you down come summer this will be a thing of the past to the web hunters.

Tagged the deer immediately.....Take it to my house to gut and cape....Freeze the cape and horns till my Taxi is ready to mount...Deliver the horns, off season, and tell my Taxi to keep it shut..Bingo no one ever knows...Sure some may find out what county but counties in Texas are huge...

So you are telling me that you wouldn't tell a single person about it? I guarantee every one of you would tell your friends and they would tell their friends and next thing you know there would be a thread on here about a rumored monster buck that was taken. Give the guy a break. To me it sounds like all the hunters who have been hunting that area are mad that they didn't get this buck. It happens, get over it. Congrats on the kill!
