 1st time deer hunting Sitting in the stand .....

Here I am firs deer hunt ever me and my daughter sitting in a 6x4x7 deer stand 12' off the ground. 6 windows all arouNd us!! 22* in Floyd county and looks to be a clear sky. Still dark and cold set out some glide estrus. When we were pulling into the property yesterday around 530pm we see. A huge 6 with. 3 does. Shoulda shot him then!!! Oh well

Still cold. Feet are frozen. Sun is starting to come up I can see the sky turning orange over to my right

Well had to take my freezing daughter back sonshe can arm her frozen hands and feet!! Blanket thermals sweats gloves beanie toasty toes and hot hands wernt enough for her. So now I am back in the stand!!!
As we were getting out there was a few deer that we didn't see until wencame out and scared the off. There was a buck but couldnt tell how big. Atleast a 4 point. Surley there are more out here!!!

Buck. He got up and moved around put the binocs down to put gloves heck on now I can't find him. Hoefuy he bedded back down in the tall grass

It's amazing how fast you can lose a deer even in flat grass lands.

I've heard that deer will eat pop-tarts. Try tearing off small pieces and throwing it out the windows of the stand.. Couldn't hurt to try right?

I've heard that deer will eat pop-tarts. Try tearing off small pieces and throwing it out the windows of the stand.. Couldn't hurt to try right? Years ago the LBJ Ranch had a 12 point named Peaches in a high fence enclosure. He'd come up to the fence where he was fed peaches on a regular basis. I would always stop by there on my way to the deer lease to give Peaches a hand out. On 1 trip I didn't have anything but chocolate Teddy Grahams but Peaches ate them just as readily as an apple or peaches.
