Im sure we will see some incredible times because everybody like to puff themselves up behind a keyboard, but I would still like to get an idea.

How long does it take you to gut a deer?

How long does it take you to skin a deer?

How long does it take you to gut, skin, and quarter a deer?

I had some guys time me once when I was on a ranch in the Hill Country and they said I gutted 7 doe in 5 minutes and it took me longer to do the paperwork on them and tag them than gut them. It was late in the season and I had lots of practice before then. Did not know they were timing me since we were in a hurry to get to Xmas party. If had known I probably would have lost a finger or 2. Way to long on skinning since it is usually a shoulder mount and I take my time. Not very fast on skinning and quartering either.

I don't gut them unless I have to drag them a long way, but I can have one skinned and quartered in about 20 minutes. That's probably about average though, once you've skinned a couple it's pretty easy.

Gutting takes me 15-20 mins.

Skinning takes about 20....the time it takes to drive to the Ranch House in Menard and drop him or her off!!

From the time I start gutting till the deer's on ice is usually 35-45 minutes. If its a buck it usually takes a little longer. Also depends on how cold it is and how distracted I get talking to the other guys.

Start to finish about 15 minutes to the cooler. We pull skin with a electric winch and do not gut

For my clarification:

You gutted 7 deer in 5 minutes? Really?

Yes sir and I did not do the timing so that is what they told me. They were brought to the barn and laid out side by side. I do all gutting on the ground and prefer to do it all for all the hunters since I can check what I need for records on each deer. I use a gut hook, looping shears for the "H" bone and a sharp knife. If you have the right tools it is fast. I can't do it that fast anymore but still fast at it. I have done a couple of 1,000 deer.

The more practice someone has at something the faster one becomes has been my experience. I gutted way more deer than what I have skinned and quartered. I am sure guys who manage ranches or guide hunts can do them just as fast when put to the test. I do it everyday of the season and have for over 20 years now.

Depends on how hot it is I could never let my beer get hot. If it is cold outside it will be done as fast as I can. So I can get back in the heater and drink my cold beer.

Why not 5 min. cut and pull it is not hard now if your not wanting to get blood on you ok 10min. The right knife makes a big difference.

I don't care how long it takes as long as I don't hit the piss bag or guts. I got lot's of free time while hunting, but I hate cutting those buggers up (processing).

Me personally. I block the road leaving the pasture and wait on one of the young and dumb family members to come by and persuade them to do it for me. I wasn't born yesterday. cheers

Fielddress 5 to 6 minutes
skin 10 to 15 minutes.
Quarter and in ice chest 10 minutes.

If processing it at home I bone it out while hanging. ham muccles seperated individualy, back straps and tenders out, shoulders boned out and ribs trimmed for sausage meat for that start to finish gutting skinning first stage processing about an hour the another hour work it is ready for the freezer finished cutting, grinding and wrapping.

i really hate to speed thru the process because i like to look at the bullet trauma. i gutted a doe once in less than 5 mins. it was almost dark and i had to get her up a steep hill, so i wanted to unload as much weight as possible. never tried to skin really fast yet. quartering is pretty quick though.
