I hunt 5 miles west of priddy. We have seen several exotics off and on. We have quite a few ibex that they have been trapping and moving off to south texas. We had a red stag last year on camera but he didn`t stick around for the party. No black bucks at all.We are all low fence but are close to 3 high fence ranches.I shot the deer in the last picture open day at 5:30 in the afternoon, so I am hoping one of the exotics will show up. I have seen the axis and fallow does from time to time but never a buck except on my game camera. The deer in the last picture had a 15.5 inch 3rd main beam with a 4 inch brow tine that curled behind the other main beam. He was shot at and missed on youth weekend so I feel lucky to have watched him all summer and fall and then finally get to put my hands on him. He isn`t the biggest buck I`ve seen this year on my game camera but I told my son I wasn`t pulling the trigger on opening weekend unless the "super freak" walked out. I love it when a plan comes together.

I'm in my stand in caradan right now....the wind is howling and it was 55 degrees when I got out of the truck. The temperature dropped 17 degrees in twenty minutes on the way here from college station

Ok I have to ask since I see your screen name....... would you happen to know anything about some peacocks roaming around in the wild in caradan? Like in September? And there's two less of them now?

I hunt on the place just to the east of a goat farmer named stillwell. He has the place at the t on 575 and 249 in the middle of what they call town which is about 5 or 6 houses. I have not a clue about the peacocks running around out their.

Hunted hard all weekend, seen lots of doe's NOT being chased bucks, wife did manage to take a spike still hunting. He came to a bleat can. We had a bow hunter take a big fat doe that still had milk in her sack. Anyone else seeing rut activity this weekend?

In 2008 the rut was full swing second weekend of season. I killed a buck that scored 146 that day

So who has the huge deer camp directly east of the toddy house on dirtroad? I drove by there Saturday night. Seeing all the lights and cooking goin on, I was wondering if there is a live band too...? Whoever it is, yall are doing it right!

Haha TxAggie...the large deer camp would be us. We had plenty of beer and backstrap steaks going. We lease both sides of the road and both groups camp in one location. How far are you from us and have yall killed any good ones?

If you stay on the dirt road and go dead east to FM 575, that's where I hunt at the intersection of 575 and CR 262.

I passed a 130+ class buck last Friday. The body of the 6 point next to him was actually bigger. He's a freak buck, extremely young but big! I let him walk and hope he survives.

If y'all don't mind, I'll stop in and introduce myself sometime when I see someone there.

Hey, TxAggie, what side of 575 are you on?? We hunt on the place just west of Caradan Cem. with the high fence on the road.
I'm not sure of the county road number that comes out near us, but where it comes out on highway 16 there's a sign for North Brown Cemetary.

Some of our bucks are running after does, and others are still bunched up hitting the feeders. Maybe this cold front will get them all going....

...and here's to another Mac Daddy loss tomorrow in Austin! There going to rename the school there in Austin "Tea-Sippers Univ...home of the Shorthorns!!!!
