Maybe a long shot, but would you ever consider meeting me up and letting me shoot your sub compact XD?
Obviously I will pay for my own ammo. In addition, I will pay for your range fee.

PM9 when I wear jeans, it fits perfectly in my right front pocket and a Keltec 380 when wearing dress slacks fits nicely in either front or back pocket.

I have a Kel Tec 9mm and it is pretty easy to pocket carry. It has never had a a hiccup in probably 500 rounds. I also have a Kahr P40. Great gun, a tad longer the the kel Tec but not as thick. The Kahr is listed for sale on this forum, wife prefers a wheel gun.

I have a Kahr PM9 and feel it is a very good weapon. It is a small, reliable weapon with 9MM self defense ammo. I did have a Kel-Tec 9mm also. If you are an experienced pistol shot it is manageble, but it is a hard kicking lightweight pistol in 9MM. If I can't carry my .45's due to type of clothing, the Kahr goes into one of the tuckable style holsters or a pocket holster. Kahr makes a very nice pocket holster for it also. Good luck with your search.

Lots of Police still carry 9mm and it's a great caliber. I like the Glock 26 and the XD's are great guns but the subcompact feels a little off balance to me.

I've been looking at Kahrs lately, they are very thin due to the single stack mag but seem to be great quality.

My $0.02...

9mm? Great round.

Pocket carry? Hate it. I don't care how "light" a pistol is, it's still too heavy for me to have flopping around in my pocket.
That's just me. I couldn't even imagine a GLOCK or XD sub-sized in my pocket for any period of time. I don't even like to pocket my 380 (Bersa).

I have always preferred strong side IWB holsters at about 4 o'clock.

I carry my kahr 380 in my shorts pocket (not jorts) and when I have jeans on , I have it in a Desantis belt clip shirt untucked.
I hardly know its there.
Some of the others, xd and glocks are nice guns but still a little much to carry around.

Top 3 in no order would be kahr 380, Sigp238, and kahr pm 9, then I would go to a revolver

I carry a G27 (same size as the 26) 95% of the time and it's a great gun. Very comfortable to carry IWB and packs a lot of rounds. But it's too big for pocket carry. I do pocket carry about 5% of the time and for that it's either my 442 or 642. Those work pretty well for pocket carry. Very light weight and the rounded edges on the gun seem to make it more comfortable to carry.

Ive carried the Glock 26 every day for about 3 yrs now and I love it, but its IWB not pocket. My brother just bought a Keltec p11 and his only complaint is the trigger pull. Hope this helps some.

I carry a G27 all day in my back pocket where most carry a wallet. I use a money clip so my ID and money are up front. Any would be thief/robber would think I'm reaching for a wallet, nope just 11 rounds of .40 inbound! The g26/g27 will fit in boot just as easy as j frame S&W.

It's my fancy sauce! For me!

For some of us, IWB just doesn't work. I'm one of them.
So it's pocket carry for me, Right front, dockers jeans or similar.

Most of the time I'm carrying a .380 - LCP, P238, or P3AT.
Looking hard at the Bodyguard 380.
But if it's 9mm, my choice is the keltec PF9 or the Kahr PM9

Those are the two smallest 9s under $500.
Those doublestacks like the Glock G26 and probably the SA compacts are just too fat for me. Closest I have is a Keltec P11, which is a nice gun, but just too big for my pockets.

I would go with the S&W M&P sub-compact in a 9mm. The trigger is incredible...way better than a Glock. I personally carry a Glock 23 (.40 cal), but my bro-in-law carries the sub M&P. I've shot it numerous times and I LOVE the trigger. The recoil on the sub 9mm is considerably less than the compact .40, which means faster follow up shots. IMO, a sub-compact is easier to carry than a compact, and the M&P is a top-notch option.

Sig P228 would be my first compact choice.

P239 next.
HK's but even their compacts, aren't compact...
Glock 19's are Very Very good...

Glock 26's too.
Smith and wesson M&P's are good too..

As for the caliber, some of you read too much. Think for yourself, 9mm's on target with quality ammo are very effective.

I like Glocks and Sigs. Alot will depend on your size and how you plan to carry.

As far as the 9mm, 40 & 45ACP debate.......

I'm of the mindset that no one wants to be shot, by any size cartridge. I'll leave it at that.

Another vote for the Kahr PM9!

A little pricey, but quality constructed, good barrel, above-average trigger, and carries / conceals to my liking!

Several other good options mentioned in previous posts.

Handle 'em all and buy what feels good in your hands and pocket.

I got a new Ruger LCP a couple weeks ago, and its great for pocket carry with a pocket holster. It made no print at all in my slacks at work.

(I know there are a couple jokes hidden in there)

Not to be a jerk but do you realize %99 percent of 10mm ammo is loaded less than a 100 fps over .40 S&W speeds? cheers

I like the Sig 239 in .357Sig myself. Also like the Colt Govt. .380. Try several to find what suits YOU before you drop any cash.

I love my Kahr PM9. It is very reliable and small enough to carry all the time. I wanted something small so I would carry it and not leave it at home just because I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
