No that is the one on Hwy 19, and yes it is horrible. Matter of fact, there is no good BBQ I have found around Tyler. Rudy's is about as good as it get. I hear there is a good place in Lindale and Whitehouse, but I have never been to them.

I had some Rudy's a couple weeks ago. I could find no evidence of it being smoked. No red band in the brisket, let alone any smoke flavor. Do they even use a pit, or does Austin not allow those smokey contraptions anymore?

Rudy's is very bland BBQ. It's not bad food, by any means, just not very smoky. Give me some Cooper's anyday. food

It's better than most BBQ joints... but not near as good as most homemade BBQ.

Only been to the Rudys in Waco, no complaints here. We have a Dickeys where I live, not so great, but it is better than the mom and pop joint here.

Try Stanleys on 110 by the hosptial or purple pig on 155 in Flint or Ra Ka's in Bullard... All of them are pretty good

I like rudy's. I like their spicy sause and rubs more though. IMO each BBQ is different, each have their own flavor. So i cant say that one was crap and this one is the best. I have had bad BBQ but mainly it was too pricy, overcooked, and cold. I live near denton so have several choices, Rudy's, Dickies, and Metzler's. Metzler's probably is my most preferred.

Live about 45 miles from the original Rudy's and never did like it. Brisket and ribs always overcooked and dry. Now if you want some real BBQ you need to come here - Kerrville - and eat at Buzzies BBQ. Buzzies brisket tied as the best brisket in Texas at Texas monthlys 2010 BBQ Festival.

Best brisket you will ever put in your mouth.

I will never go to Stanley's or The Purple Pig again. They both pulled my number one pet peeve on me. They have ribs on the menu, you order ribs, beef ribs come out. In East Texas if you put ribs on the menu, they should be pork. If they are beef ribs you better warn a fella. Plus the owner of Stanley's supports Bill White, so he can go suck eggs.

To the contrary, there is some good TEXAS-style BBQ (as opposed to Memphis, Kansas, Arkansas and St. Louis style BBQ) at Stanley's, Bodacious, Rib Masters, and the Country Tavern- just to name a few--all in or near Tyler.

I have been wanting to try Rib Masters, Been going to the Country Tavern all my life, although the quality has suffered in the last 10 years as compared to what it used to be.
However between them subsituting Beef Ribs for Pork with no warning and supporting Bill White, I have no use for Stanleys.
Bodacious is hit or miss at best and way over priced for what you get.
