Here is the buck I shot this morning. I haven't taken a deer since 2006. I passed on two bucks before this one came out. The others were on the edge of the 13" rule, so I passed. I shot this deer at about 1.5 yards. He was walking right at me. He went under my stand. The arrow went between his shoulder blades, completely through the heart from top to bottom and got stuck in the sternum. He ran about 60 yards. He is 15" wide.

He was 1.5 yards in front of me, but I was about 12-15 feet in the tree. I drew while he was still in the woods because I knew there was no way I would be able to do it once he was in the shooting lane.

Congratulations on your Bowhunting harvest! After a few years of not taking a deer, I know how sweet it is when you do...

Good lookin' buck there!

When he was young, I told Dale Jr. that hunting and racing are a lot alike. Holding that steering wheel and holding that rifle both mean you better be responsible.
