Justin, Marko said on the one he killed a couple years ago that he shot it in velvet because he couldnt risk him breaking an antler in the rut, said he had done it before.
As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind...Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks--Thomas Jefferson

It is not just the rut you have to worry about, these multi-pointed deer will a lot of times break some stuff off just rubbing out! Not to mention that deer have been known to fever up and die upon rubbing out!!! I'd have killed him the 1st minute of legal shooting light on the first broad side look he gave me....no doubt! LOL
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

both of the monsters are in full velvet? I guess if I were a deer and had that much headgear I would procrastinate too. But can't say I've ever seen any in my hood that were still in velvet once season opened.

Bet it was the corn that got him that big!
I feed Indian Corn, the deer really seem to like it and stay at the feeder longer......and longer....!

But can't say I've ever seen any in my hood that were still in velvet once season opened. It is fairly common to see older mature bucks and real young bucks still in velvet into October with South Texas bucks. Just think about how much antler he had to grow and the short time to do it. Say early May till late Sept. He grew 300" of antler in 150 or so days. That is an astounding number at 2" per day. Antler is the second fastest growing tissue known to man with cancer being the fastest I believe. You could see the change over a few days easily on that buck.

I gotcha, I've never done much early season hunting in STX. 2"/day is a lot & those two had a lot of area to spread it out over.

Ask him that we all know that no deer in Texas can grow to 300 inches without being genetically influenced and want to know why he is trying to say it isn't. Or ask him if he will have a 400 inch deer in the next two to five years?Every dam one of you are fools to think this deer is fair chase... Really....Brady Buck and Camp Bullis Buck.....who is the fool now LMAO
