Going to visit with Marko this week. His father is the one who shot that brute.
High fence, low fence, or no fence...this is still a great story. 4,100 acres is a lot of land and with never having added genetics to their herd- Las Raices is doing something right. Marko mentioned to me that deer management is his passion so this should be a good interview.
The deer has been scored by Los Cazadores as over 300. Of course the velvet will have to be stripped prior to an official measurement, but all indication is that this deer will go over 300.
I am hoping to also interview his old man who actually shot this deer- waiting to hear back on that deal. What do ya'll want me to ask Marko or his old man concerning this deer and their ranch?

Just some background on this deer: Did Mark get dibs on this deer because Marko took the last monster? How do the family members select the deer they are going to pursue?

What can the average hunter with access to a 1,000 acres or less do to help benefit their deer population? What are the two or three things they do that don't cost a great sum of money that the average guy can do?

Here's a question for the curious...let's say they had sold that buck to a hunter instead of family. How much would a hunter have to for over for that guy. Usually its 100 per inch over X inches. Wonder what they think that would have been.

Wonder what they think that would have been. I would have done an auction or a sealed bid with a reserve.

What has been there average buck each year for the past 7 years? Also the average body weight if known.
Are they going to get a mold made of his antlers? I've known some people to do that when they have taken big bucks of a lifetime type like this.

Ask him if it was killed with a gun or bow. So far nobody has answered that question in the other thread.

Hit him really hard with trick questions and knock him off his guard. But tell us first what those questions are going to be...

This is serious.... Did they pull the semen from the testacles when they harvested it? I forgot how many straws you could get from a pair. That would be some high dollar semen.

I know they made a mold of a deer my father shot there years ago for the ranch, while my dad has his trophy. Don't know if they will for a deer that they will have. I took a monster south texas 200lb buck with huge fat reserves at Las Raices years ago. That would not be the average, but the deer are big down there. And he sits above my computer watching over me as I type.
