I've read some interesting findings in the woods on other forums; from bodies, to old cemetarys, old cabins, indian mounds, deer locked together. Lets have em, this makes for an interesting thread.

we found a homeless man squatting on some property we had just listed.
I haven't found anything much other than some old barbwire, some beer cans/bottles, etc
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Where I hunt in Central Texas, there's a 600 acre section of the lease that's too rough/thick to hunt. Our group has been on this lease since 1961 and I know this 600 acres hasn't been hunted in at least 20 years. I've tried but the ridges are so steep and choked with big cedars that you spend all your time crawling on your hands and knees.
Anyway, I was at one edge of it one day looking for arrowheads. I saw something green at the bottom of the ridge and discovered that it was an old, folded $20 bill. I got to looking around and found a few more. I worked my way up the ridge and found more money caught in the rock and brush where it had washed down the hill.
About this time, I'm envisioning a dead body up the ridge with a whole box of money. I looked and sniffed (you never forget that smell) around the area for a couple of hours and never found anything else. A few of the bills were in such bad shape that the bank wouldn't exchange them for me but it's the first time I ever got paid for a days hunt!

I was scouting at Sam Houston Nat'l Forest last weekend, and i was walking down one of the gated off roads (gate was locked). I was probably a mile or so off the main road and I saw a cooler laying in the middle of the dirt road which i was walking. I was a little surprised to see it at first. No one was around, there was no other vehicles parked where i was, no tire tracks, only one other persons boot prints, which looked a couple days old. I looked around for anyone, but saw nothing. I was a little worried to look in it. I was scared what i might find, maybe like human body parts of something. Or maybe it was bait, and i was the hunted. So i walked up to it and opened, only to find a cooler full of iced down Miller Lite! I laughed and quickly shut the lid and went about my scouting. Well on my way back, the cooler was still there. So i looked around again, and saw nothing. Then i yelled out for anyone near to show themselves, or acknowledge their presence. Nothing. I then yelled out that i was gonna help myself to one of their beers. Grabbed me one, took a big swig, and yelled out thank you and went back to my truck! There was only one logical explanation for this strange occurrence. It was Bigfoot's cooler of beer, and he drinks Miller Lite!

I avoid Dick's and hope they fold.

That story is 100% true!! I called my Dad, brother, and girlfriend as soon as i got service on my cell and had to tell them about it.
I took that pic right after i grabbed the beer and was walking back to the truck.

Well here goes............
Bowhunting in East Texas a few years ago and was walking out after my morning hunt. I hear something coming up behind me crucnching in the leaves and grass. I stop to see what is following me and a pretty rough looking coyote finally surfaces. We are just locked into each other, neither one moving an inch. I decide I'm gonna lift my bow and attempt a shot, but in fear he will bust at the slightest movement. He instead lowers his head as to start growling or something. I come to full draw and I am shaking like crazy, buck fever on a coyote I guess. He allows me to take aim, not moving an inch. I punch the trigger in a nervous frenzy and completely miss. He then takes a few steps as to circle around me. I then take another arrow out and nock it. I pull back again and still shaking attempt another shot,he's maybe 8-10 yards from me. I miss again, the arrow crashes into the brush of a fencline. Now this stinking coyote hears the crash of brush and goes over to where my arrow hit. He picks up the arrrow in his mouth and starts to trot off. I now nock my third arrow and he is trooting away at this point so I take a desperation shot and miss again. He fades off into the distance, still carrying my arrow in his mouth. So....recap! I missed this coyote 3 different times, all within 20 yards or so. I guess he was a little sickly and just looking for a meal. Really weird experience for me to the say the least. i was a little shook up when my buddy got back to the truck and I told him the story.
It was in Hopkins County, any of you that hunt there beware of the human tracking coyote still lurking around!

I was hunting arrowheads along a spring fed creek once and could hear a hog behind me making a little noise. We got tons of hogs but I don't mess with them and I had a Ruger 77/44 slung over my back (for Turkeys) so I didn't turn around to look. I kept walking slow looking at my toes and I could tell the hog was getting closer. Still no worries. Finally, I could tell he was really close so I turned around. This hog was standing about 15 feet from me; nothing but skin and bones. I would have never believed that an animal in that shape could be alive.
We looked at each other for a while. I stomped my foot and hollered at him to get out. He took a few steps towards me. I picked up a small rock and hit him with it. He took a few more steps towards me. All this time, he's growling like a dog.
At this point, he was less than 10 feet from me and I could tell he wasn't going away. I unslung my 44, told him I was sorry, and shot him in the head. When I looked at his teeth, all 4 tusks were broken and had exposed nerves. He had to be in incredible pain; so much that he couldn't eat. He had to know he couldn't take me. I felt bad about having to shoot him but it was obvious he was miserable; probably almost to the point of insanity. There is nothing Man can do to match the torture that Nature can carelessly inflict.
Yeah, I know. You think I'm stupid for telling him I was sorry before I shot him. But it was a heart wrenching situation that was going to have a bad ending. There was nothing he could have done in his life to deserve that.

PrimitiveHunter---thats not stupid at all. That just shows that you do have compassion for living things. That situation was a sad and unfortunate one for you and the hog, but you did the right thing.

It was in Hopkins County, any of you that hunt there beware of the human tracking coyote still lurking around! lol, I had two track me down a few years ago, but it was pretty clear they didn't know what I was. I had parked my 4wheeler in my normal spot, made the quick 150yd walk and climbed up in my climber...as I was putting the bungi cord around the tree something down at my 4wheeler caught my attention and there was a coyote standing at it giving it a sniff. It then put its nose to the ground and followed my trail down the road to where I had to cross the ditch into some waste high grass. It then started pouncing through the grass (I guess trying to flush the "human rabbit" and then came right up to the base of the tree stopped and started looking around. I heard something behind me and turned to look and another one had slipped in along the slough bed and they both met up at the base of the tree. I stood up and blew at them and waved my arms since it was really early in the evening and they ran about 20 yds and turned to look up at me and then started coming back in. Those things were starving, but I imagine one of them got a pretty good meal out of the deal.
