I went to the SW fields yesterday afternoon, F #27, #28 and Premium #148. About half of #148 has been plowed, saw quite a few birds but they wheren't as thick as I was hoping. Ended up with 10, and lost a few in the thick sunflowers. I was in Carbon on Sunday afternoon, in Fields #55 and #56, I saw alot of birds out there, and the ones I shot where pretty big. I'm hoping to go back out there a few more days this week. A friend of mine went to the North fields yesterday, I'm not sure exactly which one but he didn't shoot one time.

Spoke with a DFWhunt rep and suggested that they update the website whenever a field is plowed or altered. I don't think that's too much to ask---especially since the fields west of Ft. Worth are at least an hour drive away. I'd hate to drive that far only to find the field was plowed and has been that way for who knows how long. Guess we'll see how they respond.

Well I agree...I only live about 10-15 mins from some of the fields but it still makes me upset when I get there and the field is all plowed up or mowed down.Anyeone else in the north texas area near Denton PM me I need to find a land owner for a piece of land near the north fields to hunt,

Went to the SW fields this morning, those fields in my opinion could be some of the best fields in October because of all of the sunflowers and they are still in good shape. Well most of them have been plowed and while I was there, the guy was on the tractor plowing it all under, the premium field is all that is left for now, but I would imagine he will start on it tomorrow. And the birds wheren't as thick today as they where just 2 days ago, I didn't shoot one bird out there this morning, but I did see some. I just feel that with the sunflowers being plowed, those fields will be worthless. Would've been great if they would have been able to wait a few more weeks before plowing...

Oops, not familiar with DFWhunt. Just know there are a lot of Public hunt permit fields toward that direction. But like is being said, between the wet weather and lack of cool weather to push birds down, things are probably that way for a lot of hunters in those areas.

I'm not familiar with DFW hunt either. How much does this cost for a season? What areas of DFW are the fields located?

I drove by field #1 today and there was a tractor out, so my guess its being mowed.

Prices ranged between 250 - 375 for dove I believe. The problem people are having is NOT with the birds, most people understand the birds cannot be controlled. The problem people are having is that the fields we have paid for are being plowed 3-4 weeks into the season...without notice. I am assuming most of these gentlemen are feeling a little frustration with the org as a whole.
It looks like any field with a deer stand is being plowed for deer hunting and the dove hunters are being pushed out. Read all of these posts and the posts are not about the birds. The only problem is that there cannot be any birds on a field that was sunflower before, that looked great, that we all paid for, that is now a dirt field. Ask 100% of the hunters and they will tell you if they knew that some of the fields they were told that would be there would not be available, an entire area would be pulled and some of the fields would get plowed before the season was over and they would probably go with someone else.

You hit the nail on the head! All any of us want is to get what we paid for and to have the opprotunities to hunt throughout the season. To be able to scout and watch the weather through Sept and Oct and go shoot some birds. There are millions of "Dove" hunters that go out on opening day and by Labor Day they are done. I'm not one of those guys, I look forward to dove season all year and enjoy being able to go as much as possible through October. And you would think that for the price that we paid, that the service would be better. If this was a $200 per year lease then that would be one thing...

Really??? If it was $5 a year I would still want what was agreed or implied...Im sure you would to. Cost just adds to the sting. frown

Update on the Southwest fields as of this afternoon--Fields 26, 27, 28, 32 ,33, 34, 35 have ALL been plowed. Only standard fields left untouched are 31 and 29; 146 is the only premium field. Anybody have any reports for the far west and north fields?

So have they plowed the premium SW field also? Part of it was plowed earlier this week but I couldn't tell if they where going to plow the rest of it yet.

I have been out west the past 2 days, there are very few birds out there. I hunted 2 days and killed 5 birds, I wouldn't make another trip out there for awhile.

was field 5 ever cut for hunting? We went out and the sunflowers were all 4-6 ft tall with no rows and never got sprayed. Birds just jetted over our heads and never thought twice about landing there.

Might be ok for a day or two if birds are in the area, but not good for bringing in new birds. Shredded would be perfect, plowed not so much.

Has anyone asked these people why they are plowing the fields? That would really tick me off if I paid that kind of money for a season and they pulled that crap half way through. Who is running this outfit and are they returning any calls?
