Its horrible right now. I went 3 times last week, Sat evening, Sun evening and Tuesday morning, didn't shoot at one bird. Went to 12, 13, 6, the premium fields near Lone Oak Rd. - Nothing! This really sucks and who knows whats going on out west, no updates on the website since the first week.

It's a lease. You'll have have to wait until some move in which might or might not happen at all. What kind of food is in these fields?

I went out yesterday afternoon and scouted three fields with little to no activity in any location. We tried Sanger first and saw a total of four birds in one hour. We then went to the fields north of Krum without seeing any birds in the thirty minutes we were there. We ended the day in the field east of Krum next to the abandoned housing development where we saw maybe half a dozen morning doves two white wings and several flights of pigeons crossing the area.I shot twice and downed one white wing which I gave to the only other hunter in the field. I wish that DFWhunt would post some kind of accurate information on their properties and not just the same old propaganda. Take the money and run.

Pretty frustrated with dfwhunt this year. They can't control the number of birds in the area but they could have done a better job of getting properties up north with more than native grass. Also, it would be nice if they called back once in a while. Just hoping that the late season will make up for a real lackluster early season.

I realize its a lease and I am an adult, I understand what a lease agreement is. But I also know what was promised has not been delivered. Not the guys fault that there are very few birds, but the maps are not true, they list cut milo, sunflowers, cut wheat, etc.. and its nothing more than native grass. And the few fields that where good, where over hunted the first week. I am hopeful that the late season will be better and that these guys can take some constructive feedback and make progress. Or I will not be back in 2011.

Yes, it seems maps need to be updated, and the agents need to be more responsive. Hopefully, hunters who are considering a deer or duck lease with DFW Hunt will read this thread and be more informed. I know DFW Hunt can't control the birds, but you think they would be more attentive to clients when the hunting is horrible/ non-existent. Last "dove scouting report" was posted 9/9. I know not much has changed since then, but again, they need to be focused on service.

Here is more specific of the things that where promised but not delivered.
1. Originally we where going to have fields, North, Southwest, South (Kaufman area), and West. After most of us had signed up and paid, well the South (Kaufman) fields where gone.
2. Selling everyone on the fact that there where all these fields and the hunting was going to be great, sign up early and receive a discount, etc.. - then a week or so before the season, they decide to announce that all of the best fields are going to be sub-leased for the first few days, then to find out that the agents where taking all of their friends to these prime locations the first few days, that really pissed me off.
3. Already mentioned the field maps are not accurate. One field in particular out west, has been one of the best fields, year in year out, loaded with sunflowers. There isn't a damn sunflower in the field out there. And Field #6 up North has been a disaster with all of the oil rig workers and huge trucks running in and out of that place. Not to mention, no sunflowers there either.
4. The weeks and months leading up to the season, they where putting reports out weekly if not daily. Since the season started they haven't put anything on there. And if you email them, to see if its any better west of Dallas, so that you don't have to waste another trip out there, no one responds.
Like I have said before, I understand that this is a lease and the birds will come and go. But I think most of us chose this group because of the way everything seemed to be lining up. I do believe that if the fields where more accurately described on the maps, and the cost of this lease wasn't so expensive then there would be less discouraged feelings. And sub leasing the prime fields for the first few days is total [censored].

That wouldn't sit well with me at all. Does anyone else know this to be true? Sure like to know before I have any dealings with.

Trust me, its true. I may have the timeline off because I don't remember exactly when they announced that these fields where off limits, even if you paid extra for a "premium" pass. It didn't matter the first few days, when the birds where here!

Bird Dog, how did dfw hunt announce those fields were off limits? Was it through the dove scout report postings? Just curious because I'm contemplating a request for partial refund. Any details would be helpful. If your information is accurate I would encourage all members to demand some sort of refund.

I agree with Bird_dog. When they had their tour in the sanger/krum area field 5 was on the standard package. Well a few days before opening, it became private until 9/5 and then it was for premium lease holders only. There was a few other fields, but can't think of it at the moment. I never recieved an e-mail or a phone call stating anything about the change. However, I did speak to a few people who were happy returning customers and some that has been with them for a few years now and they've all said themselves that last years hunt was a lot better. So, the birds are a hit and miss which I understand, but they could have been more up front about everything. This is my first year being on a dove lease and I had high expectation because of the info I was given, but live, learn and move on.

This is my 2nd year, I like the set up, but the subleasing part annoyed me. And it happened, they sent emails and marked on the maps on the website the first few days what was and wasn't open to everyone. They seemed to be more customer friendly last year, or at least thats how it seemed to me.

Looks like the northern birds are moving in. Hunted south of Gordon yesterday p.m., limited out. Most birds had a heavy layer of yellow fat; should be good hunting in October.

Pretty frustrating, we were told that field 5 would be cut 10 days before season opened, went out AFTER it was re released to us commoners and I was still uncut. Went to field 26 near Stephenville this weekend and it was COMPLETELY PLOWED. We were told that there would be daily reports after opening day, you can see that didn't happen. Went to a field up north that said it was planted with sunflowers, it had maybe a 1/4 acre of sunflowers on 600 acres. I don't see why anyone should have to pay extra for good hunting. That basically says if you pay for regular hunting you're getting taken. My 2 cents, I'm sure others have had a better experience but I'm not sure how many.

Sort of recalls to mind a story that happened to a fellow couple years back... Had a lease that the land owner whom was leasing the land allowed his college age kid to come home on break and call some of his buddies to ride ATVs all over the place and hunt the stands the lease members had built/ placed and food plots they worked??? seems there should be some sort of clause against selling something ,even a privilege, twice. Sad thoguh DFW Hunt seemed like a good deal for the money.. it really did. But if they bait and switch and sell same "share" twice ..No sir...no thanks!

Just got back from field #5...kinda disappointed bc the sunflowers were chest high and very thick.DFWHUNT said they were just going to thin them out and make it "more" huntable. Went out there today and it was 2 inches tall, but nevermind that I still shot a few birds and missed more!!!
