Question : noticed my solar charger had crapped out on me and had to replace the rECHARGABLE battery with a NON-RECHARGE. 6 v. Battery. How long will the FV battery work in the feeder ? A week, A month, TILL. Christmas ? I have the "low/easy fill" feeder........ I won't make it back w a new solar panel + recharge battery till Thanksgiving, HELP....

Set your timer on the lower settings with less feed times and it should last a couple of months.

It depends what timer you have, some will eat it up really quick and some will not, I have a smart timer that has had the same battery in it for two years and then I have some others that only last a month...

x2... Smart timers keep a battery for a while. The easy-fill from moultrie should hold up, if it's a decent battery, for over a year.

I've had a 6V battery (rechargeable type) last the entire deer hunting season without a solar panel. In fact, on that particular feeder (for the past 3 or 4 years), I put in a new 6V battery about a month before deer season and it makes it through the entire season, no problem.

This plus the kind of battery you use. We bought some Energizers from wally world once, a total of 6. Out of those 6, only one showed to have 98% battery life, 4 had less than 50%, and one just wouldn't register. Just said "Low Battery" on our battery meter. Checked them in the parking lot. Took them all back right then for a refund.

Out of desperation I used a deal that looks like a 6 volt battery but you put 4 D cells in it. It has held up on a Moultrie for about 6 months now and said 75% this morning. I put Duracell's in it. I was sceptical but it has worked great so far

Totally agree with Thundervee, all depends on the timer. I have the Rem timers and used to go through the 6v lantern batteries about once a month feeding 2x aday for 5secs. on low speed. If you have other hunters where you hunt maybe you can get one to replace the battery for you, I'd worry the battery won't last till Thanksgiving.

When it starts getting cold out the life span will diminish as well. Although I don't know how long they had been on the shelf before I bought them, I think we were only getting 6-8 weeks out of some of our batteries last year.

I have a remington feeder motor that uses the 6V rechargable battery. I set it out with a full charge back on July 31. Had to recharge it for the first time yesterday.

I wire two batteries in parallel and run all season on a older moultrie digital controller.

Depends on your motor but some can last you thru a season. And the 4 d-cell battery setup works well too.

Usually got 2-3 months on one 6V (Remington feeders) before i switched to solar panels & rechargeables.

Can someone describe how you wire two 6 volts together in parallel? I have converted a game camera over to a 6 volt feeder battery and would like to add another battery to make it last longer.

Heat will zap a battery as much or more than cold especially in Tx

Powerstar 6v rechargable on a Remington Digital timer, medium rpm throw, 2x a day will last over 2 months. Last one I checked had only drained to 5.5v from a charge of 6.2v

None of my business but why dont more people just put solar panels on their feeders. I use the wildgame innovations for about $30 from what I remember. My $20 batteries last me about 3 or 4 years on them. I know it adds to the cost of the feeder but seams to pay for itself from a hassle stand point, etc. Heck that is about the cost of 3-4 bags of corn these days. We use to use the re-chargeable that you have to take back to camp, recharge, then bring it back out or dispossables.....pain.
