We try to fill ours with venison, rabbit, squirrel, dove, and fish that I harvest/catch/kill myself. And if realy lucky a wild hog and some duck. If I get to go huntging for them. Subsidize with other meat and vegies from the local grocerie stores.

If I'm not hunting something I must be dead.

fish twice a month, catfish, shellcrackers, and crappie are kept fresh. A deer or two, with a wild hog to help make some tasty sausage and couple of turkeys, love to grind my turkeys for turkey burgers.

Now if I had the space for garden.

Butcher a steer every fall, and then add venison steaks, wild hog (sausage/back straps), dove, pheasant and a couple redfish and sand bass trips. Only meat we every buy from the store is chicken or turkey.

I killed a buffalo cow in April of last year so we've been eating on that since. Also try to keep a good stock of venison. Get chicken from a good friend that has a fresh source.

Catch plenty of crappie, sand bass and catfish.

If I can ever see a hog on the deer lease, I'll have some pork in there too rather than store bought.

We get 1/2 hog, 1/2 cow & 20 whole fryers from the family farm in Iowa. Hope to fill in the holes with deer, wild hog and migrotory birds. Most fish I throw back

Is that like throwing a snake on the fence and it will rain philosophy?

I've been getting 5-600 pounds back from the two hogs for years.

A guy that lived close to Caddo Mills is the one that did it.I was there when he cut the pigs and his dad told him to cut the tail off. They were talking about it after he had done it and his dad said that one will grow bigger.I did see them later and one was growing faster than the other and I had forgotten about it until I saw this thread.I lost contact with him so I don't know the end results on those pigs but I will ask my son who knew him a lot better. What's it gonna hurt if you do cut one of them off and see for yourself ?.

Have some deer we get from both of our dads. Have plenty of birds after season. Keep a good supply of fish. Had to buy another freezer for the hog meat we got from my dad this year.
