I remember seeing some plans on here a while back for building a dog stand but can't find them. Does anyone have any pictures or plans for one?

Thanks

I think the only good reason to build one is if you are board. grin

I’m just joking. Kinda. grin

I just think it is pretty hard to make something better than the sports stand.

I printed those off and have them somewhere. I think I am going to build one if it ever cools off. bang For a 1/4 of the cost of the sport stand I just have to try a homemade one first.

Speaking of which...it seems the ruff stand and sport stand are the two best reviewed stands. The only negative I have seen on the sport stand is the sling will get mud in it and hold water then freeze. I would love to hear your experience with that, Guy.

Yeah, they are, and sports stand is better.

I never had that issue, but I have had that issue with other gear, and just drill holes in the tubes so the water drains, I would do the same with the sports stand.

But I researched the Avery vs sport stand , and I chose the Sports Stand because:

1) I liked how you carried it as a back pack vs shoulder strap
2) I like the integrated mesh decoy bag, a really nice decoy bag
3) From what I have read, the sport stand is much more stable

And when I got it, I was really impressed with the quality, it really is a well made product, I recommend it highly. I got the short version vs tall version, I just never saw a need for the taller version. Here are some pics..

This shows how thin it is folded up:

Pic below is the back of the stand folded up, and make note of the 2 pole pointing up, the decoy bag has loops on it that slip over those poles..

And here is the decoy bag slipped on…

This shows a pic of the loops on the decoy bag, how they hook on…

In side the decoy bag, is another mesh pouch that zips up, to carry other stuff, kinda cool...

Here is the other side of the stand folded up, this part goes against your back, you can see that is real comfortable…

Tex rig...

I bet Charlie was hating on you for that. rofl

Actually, if you made the legs at an angle, that would not be too bad. If I made my own, it would be strong enough so I could sit on it as well, that is something you cannot do with the Sportstand.

I put this one together from a piece of 3/4" ply wood and a old lawn chair frame. I used some plywood strips for runners attached to the frame from the lawnchair and screwed the top covered in out door carpet to them. Gave it the Krylon touch and thats all folks. Its a little heavy but its solid. I weigh 225 and it doesn't wobble when I get on it and holds me just fine. It folds for transport too.
