Looks like the bullet might be hanging up on the feed ramp. When you pull the shell out does it have a nick in the end of the bullet where it hung on the ramp ? Are you having any trouble with hangups when you use the charging handle to load the first round ?

Is the bullet nose impacting the feed ramps, or the bolt binding on top of the next round in the mag without stripping it?

well you need to review those links that Brandon 972 sent you. If the ramp has a lip that the bullet is hanging on your going to have to fix that one way or the other. Here is one more dumb thought....There is spring action on the bolt when you release the charging handle to load the first round, right. In other words there is a spring in the buffer tube, LOL...
Assuming you have the spring, take the upper off the lower and look at the ramp to see what kind you have according to the links and see if there is a lip or burr that the bullet is hanging on..

well when ya shoot the first round it will eject it and either try to take another round and it will hit the feed ramp or not take the next round and get hung up half way or not take the next round and close all the way

Might be a good reason for not firing that many rounds. I think I would take it back to him and let him demonstrate that it works ok... did you check the feed ramps against what Brandon sent you ???

If it's that variable, I'd like to see it. If you ever get over this way holler. Gas issues tend to be consistent and get worse with time. Magazine issues are usually solved with a different mag, foulded feed ramps could be variable...

If you open the top, is the buffer tube contained by the pin and detent spring? I have seen one that wasn't that acted similarly.

I'm guessing here but I think this may be Slayers first experience with an AR and he is not familiar with the terminology of the weapon and he is not familiar with how it works etc. I'm no expert either but sounds like you may have a couple of problems. You probably need to get it to someone who is familiar with the gun like Vernon or someone in a gunshop around you. It could be assembled incorrectly or something was screwed up by the previous owner.

I shot this gun tonight, after the first round is shot the bolt stops half way like the pics show. I pulled the charging handle all the way back and it grabbed the next round. If you cycle each round manually it loads every round and ejects every round. This problem only happens while being shot. The mags are new magpul bought this weekend. It looks and acts like the spring in the back is week or it's binding the bolt. When the bolt hangs you have to pull the charging handle all the way back and let it slam closed. It will not cycle the rounds on its own, something is causing the bolt to stop or bind and not grab the next round.

Anyone can own a fancy gun but can you shoot it ?

Hmmm, If you guys have another AR I think I would switch the buffer springs or complete lower/stock and see if the problem resolves itself or moves to the other gun. You could also switch the bolts, charging handles etc. Maybe the bolt is only going far enough back to eject the spent shell but not far enough to clear the end of the shell in the mag. SLT, can you tell if the feed ramps are OK ? I'm kinda thinking buffer spring problem or for some reason not getting enough gas to cycle properly.

If this is teh case it sounds like you might possibly have a receiver with M4 cuts and a barrel with rifle cuts. This will cause teh problem your describing and Ive actually seen 3 "factory" rifle with this problem. That being said it looks as thoght your BCG is jamming about half way through its stroke and I dont see a round in there. If this is the case you have another problem as well. Does the BCG move freely in and out when the upper is off the lower ? It kind of looks and sounds like something is binding and heck you may not have the correct buffer spring in it. I havent seen one with that problem but if your buffer spring doesnt have enough pressure to puch the BCG all the forward and make the bolt latch into the extension that may be the problem.

As for teh upper that really looks like it might be a Model 1 Sales. I cant tell you how many problems Ive seen with those uppers and most of the problems are QC issues plain and simple. Is there any markings on teh barrel at all. most M1S barrels will be stamped somewhere on teh barrel.

If your ever in teh metroplex you can bring it by and I can take a look at it.

Does the ramp have a lip after the ramp starts that could hang a shell ? Earlier models of these guns worked fine without m4 ramps

Well it looks as several post were made before I posted mine and from what I read it actually might have teh wrong buffer spring in it. Remove the buffer and spring and see if the spring moves in and out of the buffer tube freely. You might have a mil spec tube with a commercial spting , not even sure if a commercial sping will fit in a mil spec tube but check and see. It could also have a carbine spring instead of a rifle spring.
