I made my voice heard

The agenda is posted for the next TPWD meeting.
One item is the adoption of early and late waterfowl regs.

You can read the regs that we be up for approval at:
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/business/feedback/meetings/2010/0826/agenda/item_11/index.phtml#item11a

Some changes were made from the original proposal due to the later released federal frame work info . . . however:
1. You will not get your two pintails.
2. You will not get 5 canada geese.

Once again; the Republic of Texas has proven that they know better than the Federal Dept of Fish and Game when comes to setting migratory waterfowl regulations.
You probably didnt know that Texas spends millions of $$ doing arial surveys of nesting grounds in North America.
You probably didnt know that Texas spends millions of dollars doing long term statistical analysis and employing hundreds of wildlife biologists.
That Texas has a banding program. That Texas performs extensive hunter surveys and biological analysis of harvested wings, etc.
. . . how else would they know all there is to know about migratory birds?

We have a problem here in Texas fellas.
It seems that "public surveys" may just be lip service. I hope not.
I dont know if it's arrogance, special interests, emotions, or just plain defiance; but TPWD has jumped their leash and is running wild.
I have hunted in many states across the US and seen regulations twisted by all of the above issues. I hate to see Texas added to the list.

This guy must have been hunting them at night with a burlap bag!

"§65.315 governing the hunting of snipe. All four comments articulated a reason or rationale for opposing adoption. Those comments, accompanied by the department’s response to each, follow.

One commenter opposed adoption and stated that the bag limit should be lower because the birds are rare. "
