7MM08 Remington here. Deadly little gun and fun to shoot. I have it all cammoed out and everybody wants to use it. But, they can want all they want to. Not gonna happen. It's 20 years old and solid as a rock.
I also use a Marlin 30-30. Saddle gun mostly, but you know as well as I do - there's no telling how many deer have been taken with one of those.

Over 30+ years, in this order, a Winchester 670 in .300 Win.Mag., a Ruger Model 77 in .7mm Rem. Mag., .300 Weatherby Mark V deluxe, and now a toss up between a customized Ruger Model 77 in .35 Whelen and a customised Interarms Mark X in .375 H&H. I am also having fun messing around with a Pedersoli Double Rifle with side hammers in .45/70. Yes I know that they are all way to big for Texas deer, but I am the one shooting them. AND I LIKE IT.

Remington 700 BDL 7MM Mag! If I'm ever carrying a rifle, I'm only shooting at a super trophy. I most always have a bow in my hand. Therefore, I want to know I can make any shot that presents itself and have confidence that the buck isn't going anywhere when it goes BOOM!
Prior to that it was my trusty pre '64 Remington .257 Roberts

Texas Ranger Commemertive Model 94 Winchester 30-30 with Nikon 3X9X40 scope. 150 grain Winchester Silvertips. Great gun, effective to 200 yards, 1 MOA with the 150grains consistantly. Loving every minute of it.
Next will be a Winchester 94 octogon barrel in 44 mag. Gotta love the lever actions.

I prefer my 6.5X55 swedish Mauser. Excellent deer rifle at any range. 29.5" barrel minimum though. I just need to find a scope to match up with it.

I have a 1915 Norwegian Krag-Joergensen in 6.5x55 with a 20 inch barrel, and it works just fine. In fact, The tightest group I have ever shot was with that rifle. I have an old 6 power weaver on it, old enough that it doesn't have the plastic rings on the ends of the lenses, they are brass. There are several hundred what we call moose, but the scandinavians call elk killed every year with 6.5x55's.

I use a Parker Hale 243 and out past two hundred yards it still does a good job. I tune loads to the rifle to insure accuracy for that one shot one kill or as some people like to say the humane shot.

I have the same one in 6mm. and I have shot whitetail, turkey, hogs, mule deer and a fallow deer with it. Got it back in 79 or 80. You talk about a tack driver....I have not shot it at anything in over 10 years......but it is still on! What a great gun...I think I will bring it out this next season for a hunt or two.
