223 would be fine. it helps to shoot the right ammo also. hope this helps alittle.

My 204 does a good job with hornady ammo small entry hole and mostly blows up when inside. But theres plenty to choose from just need the right bullet.

.22 LR is rimfire and lacking in power for serious varmint hunting. .22-250 is centerfire and has a .22 cal bullet with a lot of powder in the casing behind it compared to a .22LR. Excellent varmint caliber.

I would be careful of long shots on hogs with a 22-250 You will touch them with it but the knock down is not there. They will most likely run on you.

204, 223, 22-250, 224wby...(might as well get the 22-250), 22mag, 17hmr. I'de atleast get something centerfire so you can use it on game critters.

I like the 308 or 7-08. Plenty speed, accuracy, power, and variety of weight.

Not if their hit right behind the ear, they'll be dead efore they hit the ground.

.223 55GR JACKETED BULLET WORKS GREAT AND WON'T TEAR UP THE HIDE.

If you want to keep the fur I would recommend the 17hmr or 22mag. 22 centerfires will do tons of damage even though they are made for varmints. I have blown my share up. 2cents

I shot a bobcat with a 22-250 , 40 gr v-max, at about 30yds. once, It hit the shoulder and amost blew the shoulder off. No pass threw, and had to track it and finish it off. I also got one with my AR in 223 with 50 gr v-max, DRT ,and no pass threw. mc

x2

I have blown up quite a few cats with .220 swift, 22-250, and the .243. If I was hunting just for fur I would stick with a 22 mag or 22 hornet. I think my next rifle purchase is going to be a .221 fireball. I think that will be a good compromise! I surely wouldn't go hotter than the .223. Cats are not tough to kill.

However, my all-time favorite is still the 12ga with #4buck or BB. But then of course you are limited by range!

Yeah, I kinda like not having to drag them off too.

Definitely stay small if you want to preserve the hide/fur on a bobcat. 22-250 is a very fast, violent impact. It will tear up a small animal like the bobcat.

I just shot my first cat with a .243 100grain last weekend and it did not do too much damage. It left an exit hole about the size of a quarter. Plus the cat was DRT.

.223 is my vote the 22-250 can blow some big holes if shot in the wrong places.

Anyone can own a fancy gun but can you shoot it ?
