Installed lower front receiver and Everlast road feeder (100 lbs) on my Ranger. Used Rustoleum Bedliner Spray on feeder. It eliminated a little bit of the vibration noise that was resonating from the empty feeder when running down the road. Going to try it out when we go check game cameras and fill feeders at the lease this weekend.

Ranger Man, I am just curious why you mounted it on the front instead of the back of the Ranger.

TB,

I keep my 6.5' x 12' trailer in the back yard (city dweller) and use the Ranger to pull it out to the street so I can hook it up to my vehicle when trailering it to the lease. Its a tight fit getting the trailer around a corner and out the gate - can't use a vehicle. Tired of dragging it out by hand and did not want to go through the hassle of changing out the feeder and a hitch each time.

I looked at extended double receivers for the rear and installed one but it had too much slop and the feeder, using the top slot, wiggled side to side about 6" to 8". The hitch also had a lot of slop and rattle. I returned the double rear receiver and just went with installing a lower front receiver. That way I don't have to change out stuff each time I need to pull out the trailer or put it back which has been every weekend since March.

Just got back from the lease - the feeder fit tightly in the front receiver and did not wobble around even in the rough stuff. Got some good game camera pics too - will be posting.

Man with a plan, nuff said. up
I also use my Rhino to get the utility trailer out of the side yard. I can use the truck to get the trailer out but if the ground is wet the Rhino makes smaller/no impressions in the yard/grass.

Looks like that feeder may wreck havoc with your headlight beams where you will have a dark spot right down the middle of the road. A fifty pound feeder might eliminate that problem, or either adding some extra running lights.

Just an observation that could be a concern, on those dark mornings.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

x2. That was my initial thought. You may wanna consider mounting some other lights.

Good point - found this out early this morning. Although I have 55W HID's installed in lieu of the standard Ranger lights I could have used a little more illumination when running down the road at a faster than normal clip. Thanks guys up

Ranger I mounted mine on the front also I wired it so the I could flip a switch to turn the power on and off I also wired a 12 volt switch to the rear with its own switch. Imounted a 2000 pound winch to the cab side of the bed and carry a short set of grocery rollers with me for loading hogs or deer. I have a bad picture of mine with the road feeder I built.

bholt,

I like the idea of using the grocery rollers and winch for loading game. That bed is a little too high to be loading deer and hogs by yourself without some mechanical assitance. Strained my milk last year loading ungutted buck into the back of my Ranger. 3" lift kit on the Ranger did not help either.

Where would one a section of these rollers? Can you buy a them used somewhere? Can you post the picture or PM it to me with your setup? Interested to see how you have it arranged. I have seen folks use some sort of game hoist and swinging boom but that is a little more than I am looking for. The simpler, the better. Thanks

I've been looking at one for my ranger and I will have to go with the front mount as well. The trailer that I use on the ranger the ramp would hit one mounted on the rear, and I wouldnt want to take it off evertime I hauled the ranger. JMO

By the way Rangerman that looks good!

You might have to watch the grain dust blowing in on your radiator also....and might need some extra lights up under the front of your roof on a seperate switch, worked for me.

Here something I have seen done on a Mule as game carrier. The tailgate feeder is bolted to the bed with an anlge iron frame added for reinforcement. The game carrier is removable and can be stored on the roof with 4 wing nuts to bolts left up there or it can be left in the back and the flashing shield was added to the corn feeder to deflect corn to the ground. Edges of the carrier are angle downward and makes it easy to lift a deer up on it. Will handle 350 lbs easy if you have your tailgate feeder bolts to the bed well and into the reciever hitch. The pump up sprayer carries 2 gallons of water to wash hands with. Under pressure 2 gallons will last a long time. Just some thoughts to add to really good ones above.

Thanks...really does work well...cleans the knives, hands, etc quickly with very little water. Throw in rubber gloves and a roll of paper towels and you are set.

Ok Ranger here you go here is how I mounted my Winch.

I have a two switchs (on the right) one (top)that controls power to the front (road feeder) and another (bottom) that controls the rear (tank sprayer & boom) that controls.

Front

Rear

The road feeder does not interfere with the radiator but I have installed extra lights as you can see in the switches.
