I'm a realtor and I listed a high fenced game ranch for sale a few years ago. This was the first one I have been on. Saw some fabulous animals, especially trophy whitetail bucks that I have only seen the likes of on TV. The ranch manager put some corn out on the ground and five or six huge racked bucks came right up to within 15 yards of us in plain sight standing next to the truck and started eating. They had almost no fear at all, nearly tame. I was told that they were bred and pen raised and turned loose there. I love to hunt, but it struck me that killing those deer would be more akin to murder than hunting. About as much sport as going to a stockyard and shooting penned up cows. If a high fence place is big enough, I suppose that would be alright, but this particular operation was not much different than going hunting at the Houston zoo. Having said that, I have gone archery hog hunting at a fenced place near Waco once and that was OK because it was a large enough area and the hogs were certainly wild and not practically hand fed.

A few animals that dont interest me. Things that I have not seen yet in the wild. Let me explain I have never seen a Lion in 40 years of hunting. I would hate to shoot the first one I saw. Bears in Texas never but if I was somewhere else where they were plentiful probably change my mind. Finally sheep or goats I'm not talking about Bighorn of Mountain but dall, angora, mouflan or the like

My list of hunts I don't want to go on;
1. African Safari - Seems too much like a "canned" hunt. 2. High fenced "canned" hunt!! Obviously!! 3. Grizzly bear - I don't know why????

As I set here and read thru the post, I can think of a lot of animals I wouldnt shoot and dont have the desire to hunt....
Lion Bear Caribou Rhino Zebra
and the list goes on... I have hunted on a HF place twice that was about 2200 acres. Once for a black buck and once for an Axis. It was three days of hard hunting. I had a much easier time shooting my big white tail on my LF lease... Dont knock it until you try it.

Javilena, there just plain nasty.
Anything bird that is shotgun related, I like going to watch/help setup but not actually hunting if that makes sense.
Pronghorn/Any sheep.
Moose.
Wolf/Coyote.
Anything African, with exception to Warthog and Cape buffalo
Snipe...Long story...

just out of curiousity. THe people that said high fence hunting is BS, have you ever actually hunted on a high fence ranch?
what I think... is that people have a pre conceived notion about high fence hunts... do you really think the deer are that different on an 8000 acre high fence ranch, than an 8,000 acre low fence ranch?
also.... for my own curiosity... what's up with the hate to hunt in africa?
dont hate africa just think we have better animals here in the states, without a passport or the cost
if ya see me on a high fence place please call me on this
i am cancelling my subscription, i am tired of your issues!
