I went out with a buddy to his company's 17,000 acre lease yesterday to do some shootin and callin. As were riding around on the mule he informs me that the people who leased the place some 18 years before used to have goats, and some got left and now theyre wild and they want them off of the place. 5 minutes later he slams on the brakes, pulls up his 22-250 and blasts a pretty good size billy goat from about 250 yds! We went and found blood and tried to track him, but the terrain got way too rough and rocky so we gave up. Anybody else have this problem with "goats gone wild"? Owner didn't want to sell hunts or to start wiping out ewes and lambs. Sheep aren't quite as bad for the habitat as goats are though.

One of our guys shot a "trophy class" Spanish goat this year, there were two traveling together, it's the only time we've ever seen a goat on our place in 10 yrs. I label them as "feral goats" Ours are not tame, by any means. tx44hunter and 350ranch both have shot some big billies. They make excellent shoulder mounts, but dont eat the meat "Laugh with many, but don't trust any"
