Man just to let ya know nobody is gonna name a lake for you....too many reasons why but when you ask where to hunt most people wont tell you.....maybe you should try to find somebody on here who lives near you that could take you out fishing and show you the layout of the lake?

Knowing the dynamics of this board, why would anyone help you now? You get all butt hurt over some guys joking, messing around and at the very least keeping your post toward the top of the board. Sounds unappreciative to me

Well, I will even though Quackrjack has been around here long enough that he should know what the majority of responses are going to be. Still kinda rough for May and it will only be his second season. So Quackrjack, why you asking about Jasper? Moving out of Belton? This will work for anyone on the forum moving to a new area or new to duck hunting. Or any kind of hunting for that matter. It's not some big secret and it's not rocket science. Look at Google Maps at Jasper Texas, and also do a google search for Lakes near Jasper. Search regionally too, Southeast Texas Duck Hunting for example which will also get you some magazine articles and outfitters. You will get a lot more than you will on this or any forum. I see Toledo Bend and Rayburn to the North. Angelina and Sabine Nat Forest too that should have some ponds, small lakes. Steinhagen to the West. There are a couple units of Big Thicket to the South West that should have some creeks and swamps. To the South you have at least one Wildlife Management Area. Also that area of the state has a lot of Public Hunting Lands Permit units. Now cross some of that location information you found with the links in our land and leases forum ( a great sticky there, use it.), reference the magazine articles and the other links that came up in your google search, look up the unit maps on the TPWD website. And don't be afraid to look over the state line. Louisiana ain't that far from there. Now you have well over if not several hundred thousand acres of land and water for your summer scouting to narrow down from. Look at the driving times. Note how close cities are relative to hunting pressure. Call, email, and write some controlling authorities, biologists, wardens, or managers. Check with some of the outfitters if your into that. Study over the online satellite maps. Then closer to season, you can do your ground/water scouting. Good hunting is almost never static. Especially for public land, but it can apply to private too. Water levels change, weather is never the same, migrations change. Hunting pressure changes. No one knows where it is going to be because you have to stay on top of every season to consistently find "good" hunting. Good Luck!

Quackattack - Sniper John gave you some 'top-notch' information on several locations and great advice.
I lived up there in Jasper a little over 4 years and focused my duck hunting on only 1 of those locations. If you would like a little help, holler at me.
