I smoked in my blind all year and they would walk right under it jump the
fence, eat my corn then get shot in the neck

But never smoke when I'm bow hunting

i would faithfully smoke in the blind every time i went out. Im not sure how many animals didnt come in cuz of the scent but i have killed many animals while smoking or watched animals while smoking. The wind direction makes all the difference in the world. This was the 1st year i didnt do that. Tho i Didnt see anymore or any less game lol. Was a faithful smoke for more than 10 years doing a pack to a pack and a half a day. Maybe 2 packs a day when hunting or fishing. I havent had a cigarette since 11/4/09! Been 6 mos so far and i dont ever plan on going back. I took the RX chantix for 60 days and now im cigarette free. I wouldnt have been able to do it on my own. Personally i think that was my miracle drug. I was like a crack head without a cig before!

Only reason to get out of the stand is to get a new can of dip.

Well, I don't dip, chew, or smoke and I don't drink while hunting 'cause my rifle doesn't have a cup-holder. A short story for you smokers tho: Year before last my youngest stepson tried to Hathcock a big buck @ around 300+ yds. because he hit two coyotes in the same spot a day or two previous. The buck went down, then got up and ran after being hit in the shoulder with a 150 gr. Win. S.P. out of his Savage .270. He waited a bit and then started after it, but about 50 yds from the fence-line, he stopped and lit a smoke. while he's standing in the field smoking, the buck apparently gets a whiff, jumps up from his hidey-hole by the fence and takes off for parts unknown while "Mr. Smokey" is trying to spit out his smoke, un-sling his gun, and find a running buck in his scope. He found one small sopt of blood where the buck laid down by the fence and never saw him again.
While we don't know for sure, I shot a nice 8-point last year that had a bullet jacket just under the skin of the right shoulder...

i us to smoke, i had deer on many occations come to the the cig. buts under my tree and sniff them.
while i was only at my feet level 10 feert above them.
i droped a lit cig' once while grabing for my bow.
the buck just keep coming straight at me he hit the smoke line and follow it ou to the cig. then jump back about 2 feet i think he burnt his nose.
I ended up slaming an arrow down thru his spine, he did'nt go more than a flop on the ground.
its been proven many a time, one easy way to attract elk is to build a small canp fire.
then smug it out and let it smoke.
there's something in the hot charcoal thay they crave.

Every deer I've killed I've probably had a dip of snuff in. So I say no, it doesn't affect you if you use smokeless tobbacco.

I am a rifle hunter only, no bowhunting, but:

Every time I have ever gotten into a stand I have had plenty of Copenhagen. For morning hunts, I have a nice big steaming mug of coffee. For afternoon/evening hunts, I usually have a Lone Star or two. I spit tobacco juice out of the downwind window, and have been known to pee out of the doorway. None of that has ever seemed to bother the deer at all.

I have known a lot of fellas that smoke cigarettes in the stand without any negative impact.

From an elevated stand and rifle hunting I do not think it matters unless you have a strong low pressure system. When bow hunting the cigs stayed at camp.

I took a leak last year from my tripod, just sat in the chair and went right over the shooting rail. Anyway, I had barely zipped my jeans back up when a doe walked out of a creekbottom, down wind, not 10 feet from where it all hit the ground. I figured she must've been stupid so I culled her. I think sometimes we give some of these animals a little too much credit. Sometimes.

I think that you can get away with it for deer in general, but those BIG bucks are a different story.
