I'm pretty new to duck hunting. What are the most desireable ducks to shoot?

I would say that a desirable duck because you dont shoot them often would be hooded merganser, canvasback, redHead.Everyone likes Mallards and Teal and too be honest a limit of drakes of anykind to me is a good day.

Everybody knows the Greenhead is the king duck and should be the Texas State duck, I did a survey a while back, and it won hands down.

Ringneck; Goldeneye; Woody; all because those are three ducks I have never shot!

ive said it before and ill say it again, i would trade a thousand wood duck drakes for 1 mallard drake. I have shot pretty much every duck a guy could shoot except for a halerlequin or however you spell it. But i think my most favorable duck would be any duck with some silver around its leg.

Skin that one pilgrim...I'll get you another one.

Never a ringneck!? I have shot as many of those as grays and greenheads. I hunt the N. Tex area. But I haven't shot any this year though.

My first most desirable duck was a woody and I got one a few years ago on a woodie only hunt. Took 2 1/2 days of spot and stalk and finally. Now I am looking for a pintail. After that, probably a cinnamon teal, bufflehead, canvasback, and redhead.

I think one of the coolest looking ducks are Mandarin Ducks.

For me it's the ever elusive Wood Duck. I'm lucky enough that I get to shoot plenty of Pintails and Canvasbacks each season but the king of kings for me is the Wood Duck Drake. Maybe someday someone will have heard enough of my whinin' about never bagging one of those beauties and invite me to their honey hole so they can shut me up. hahahahahahaha (A few have invited me I just can't get the pieces to fall into place so that I can go).

Why the hell should I have to press 1 for English!!??

Nope, never shot a ringneck. One morning I shot three teal, all drakes; a bluewing, a greenwing and a cinnamon. Never shot a ringneck, though. Oh, and I have never shot a redhead. I did shoot a canvasback drake . . . once.

this was my first year to duck hunt...

I've shot blue wing and green wing teal, spoon bill, pintail hen, mottled duck, and a hooded merganser. Oh, and got a few snows after a two hour stalk.

If we're going with desirable because we've never shot them then a cinnamon teal and pintail. However, desirable for eating, that'd probably have to go to the canvasback. Lot of meat and quite tender.

I can't belive that you have never shot a ringneck. Hell we could not belive that we did not shoot one the other day since it is so rare we don't. Canvasback for me.

I have shot hundreds of ducks and several different types, and I shot my first ring necks this past Friday. We got 3.

My most desirable duck would be a blue wing teal in early teal season. Only teal hunters will know that I am kidding. They don't have much color then.

Currently it is the canvasback. I have only shot one and I was too poor to mount it. Now I have a credit card.

You should feel sorry for me and take me to your ringneck honey hole!

My one-and-only canvas was west of Odessa, jumping a tank while quail hunting.

The ones that you finally hit on your third shot.
