Do not shoot them in the face. I had a decent size sow come out this past weekend and I shot her in the face with my .222 I just gave her a headache from hell. She went down squeelin' and spinnin' and then she ran into the brush. I waited 30 mins and then went to look for her. Nothing. No blood, no pig. That evening killed a 250 lb boar with the same gun and ear holed him. In one ear and out the other. Didn't take a step.

ffread i agree with you 101% we shoot the first one as a kill shot so we can eat it or give to someone who can and,,,,then it is onnnn shot placemebt is not the key....we shoot for mid belly so that they will run off out of the field and will die if not in a min or two,and if not they will in a day or two I have been hunting since I was 9 years old (almost 50 years), but your statement really disturbs me. NO animal deserves to be shot in the stomach so it can run off and die in a day or two. I don't even know where to begin addressing this issue. Anti hunters love to read stuff like that. It gives them more ammunition to fight against us. ANY ANIMAL you decide to take the life of deserves to be taken quickly and humanely, dressed and eaten. The only exception being a coyote or bobcat, but still the quick humane kill applies. I just hope there are not a lot of people in this state with your mindset.

What is the differnce in killing a coyote to let lay and killing a hog to let lay?

Kill a coyote....you should at least skin it and have the hide tanned. Sell the hide if you don't want it. Killing for the sake of killing.....I don't agree with. I used to do that as a kid, but now realize the error of my ways. Overrun with hogs? Let a trapper come in and they will be sold for meat. Problem solved and you'll make some money. The idea of shooting one on purpose in the gut so he can run off and suffer for a day or two is abhorrent to me. I would think that the ethical hunters on this forum would agree with that. As an ethical hunter you have the responsibility to kill quickly and humanely. I have been bowhunting since I was 12 or so, 99% of my hunting is bowhunting. Have I wounded a deer and felt terrible about it? Yep. But a competent archer can place a sharp broadhead in the lungs and its just as deadly as a rifle shot.

Accurate with a bow or not it is still cruel, they get shot and run off to die. They may not run far but yet they do run off. In my opinion if you want to gripe at everyone for being cruel, you should be a hunter who uses a rifle and places every shot in the earhole so the animal never has to suffer. JMO but i get tired of people griping about shot placement, PETA dont care what we say. They will gripe about shooting animals period no matter how it is done. JMO and I will quit griping and I wont ever talk about shot placement again because you cant ever have an opinion without getting someone upset. Is it bad to fish for fun too since it pokes holes in their lips, and some swallow hooks and die?

Running off a few hundred yards and dying within a couple of minutes after getting an arrow through the lungs is a world away from purposefully shooting an animal in the guts so it can run off and suffer for a couple of DAYS. If you can't see the difference then we are wasting our time here.
If you seriously think that bowhunting is cruel, then you are serously unfamiliar and ill informed about the sport. And I am not griping at everyone for being cruel, I am griping at the guy who shoots animals in the guts so they can run off and die after a couple of days. If every hunter had that psychotic attitude then hunting as a sport would be doomed.
