In our family, we had a kodiac (2000) 400 but are starting to have serious problems over and over again. How about the Suzuki 750?

I know 4 different people that have 700 Grizzlys and never had a problem. Of course, they use them for trail riding and not swamp use.

I purchased an atv about 3 years ago but before I did I talked with several knowledgeable people such as dealers, independent repair shops, riders with years of experience and two brands consistantly came to the top, with Yamaha & Honda being the 2. I purchased a used Yamaha Grizzly 660 and feel like I made a good choice. It is cold natured and hard to run till it gets good and warm but no problems. The lease I hunt on is in Sulphur River bottoms with lots of gumbo mud plus the lease is 8 miles long so I have put a lot of miles on it. I don't abuse it but I do use it.

I have a '06 660, the only problem I've encountered is a broke CV joint from the 27" Outlaws in deep mud! Probably should not have ever been there.

buy the Honda, i have owned a few over the years and have never had any poblems. My uncles Honda is a 93' with over 13,000 miles and has never given him any serious trouble. I currently have 2 2004 Honda Foremans and love them, my choice would be for the Honda Rincon 680

I have a honda rancher 420 cc, 4 wheel drive, and it's been great. I tried one of the larger 4 wheelers, but they seemed too big, and not as agile as the smaller ones. I have been able to haul myself and a buddy and 300 lbs of corn on that 400 cc honda. the only problem I had was to have a seal replaced on the front drive shaft, which apparently had dried out and was squeaking like crazy.

Buy local for parts and service if you plan to keep it a few years.

We use Suzuki's and have never had a problem. I think you should go with your own gut feeling or with your local dealer though no matter what the brand. As you can see by the posts, sombody recomends each brand and if it keeps going you'll find someone that doesn't recomend each brand. It's the same as asking wich truck is the best! confused2

I was testing the waters to see how each brand has head up over the years. I wanted the hunters opinion not the dealers, thanks for the advice and keep them coming.

I would go with a Honda. I have had others but the Honda always were the most trouble free. I still have a 1986 TRX 250 that runs like a top. I gave $1000 for it 1994 and have spent almost nothing on it.

I have been riding Polaris ATV's since 1993 and they are absolutely GREAT!! I have never had any problems of any kind. I currently have a 2000 Sportsman 500 and a 2005 Sportsman 800. We go to Colorado every other year and ride in very rough terrain. I have also ridden in Utah, Alaska and Canada as well.

I have been hunting in Colorado several times, but 1992 was the first year we ever did it on ATV's. We had used horses several times before. There were 3 of us, my friend had a 350cc Polaris and I borrowed another friends 250cc Yamaha. All 3 of us guys weigh around 200 pounds each. The first day the Yamaha broke down, so that put all 3 of us riding on the 350cc Polaris about 3 miles out each morning and back each evening at dark. The second day I was lucky and shot a 5x5 bull elk that weighed about 750 pounds. We had a small trailer, so we put part of the elk on the front rack of the Polaris and the rest of it on the trailer, then we had 3 hunters and gear riding the 350cc Polaris for about 3 miles in the mountains in very rough terrain. I could not believe how well that Polaris performed. In fact, as soon as I got back to Texas I bought a 1993 Polaris 350L 4x4 brand new. It was a great machine and each one after that has only been better and performed better!!

In all honesty, you don't need anything bigger than a 500, but I would definitely recommend a 4x4. You may not need a 4x4 very often, but when you need it, you REALLY need it!! I have had to tow several other brands of 2x4's in Colorado on snow and ice.

Polaris is the innovator of almost every major ATV feature, auto transmission, independent suspension etc., Other manufactures try to copy them as best they can. Polaris is also the smoothest riding of all ATV's and I have ridden every major brand. That makes a big difference if you are in really rugged terrain. My second choice would be a Honda, but it would be a very distant second.

Polaris would be my last choice. Always have had problems with them but to each his own I guess.

I have several friends that have Polaris atv's and we ride them pretty hard and often and none of us have ever had any trouble. It is like Chevy, Ford and Dodge, everybody has their own opinion.
