Back on the 1st weekend of bow season I went to my stand at about 4 am. I spooked a buck and it ran about 100 yds and stopped, it snorted and then I heard a location deer call followed by a hoot owl call and this went on 5 times in a row then stopped. It was about 75 yds to my left. It was a full moon so I was not using any light. I have had a problem for about 3 years. This person calls the same way every time. I was close to him in sept. he was calling the same way and I got to a ridge and looked for him but I could not see him and I went to move to a new spot and he spotted me and quit calling , I played like I was leaving and went over the next hill and stopped. I waited about 5 mins. and he started calling again, back to my origanial story, any way I went on to my stand it was opening morning and I did not want to jack with him I wanted to hunt. Well about 10 minutes went by and I heard the same group of calls again this time it was about 20 yds to my right, also I could hear him stepping on limbs and cracking them. In about 15 minutes I heard him call from my left about 75 yds and I heard his buddy call from across our valley he used the same group of calls to locate him. They took all of our big bucks off between the 2 nd week of Sept. and the 1st week of Oct. They must have been using night vision scope or glasses. The same mourning the game warden was on the ranch next to ours trying to catch the same group of guys. They made a call about 615 am which must have been (a lets get out of here call),and I did not hear them anymore that day. Next year what should I do?

On several combat missions, the Eagle Claw fish hook company and Stren fishing line helped me build a nearly impenetrable perimeter http://www.eagleclaw.com/site/http://www.stren.com/Nuthin ventured, Nuthin gained!!

Low flying lead through the brush or overhead works really well! the unmistakable whiz overhead or crashing through the brush tends to send a fairly strong msg.

Obviously you need to call the G/W asap and quit hiding from these guys. They are still around cuz you allow them to be. If you confront them or get the message across that they will be shot then I'm pretty sure they will leave or face the consequences in the end, either by law or by gun. I had a guy walk through our lease and sit by a tree, but what he didn't know is I was about 18' up a tree camo'd out and unseen. So when I saw him aim at a doe after doe season was over I simply said; You have about 5 seconds to lower your rifle, get the hell up and get off the property before you are shot or arrested for criminal trespassing which is a felony when you have a firearm in your posession. Needless to say he still never saw me and was never seen again. Message heard loud and clear.....

If you do not know they are there and accidentally shoot in their direction, it would have to be an accident if you accidentally hit one of them, wouldn't it?

Don't track the poachers, track their vehicle. They have to be removing the game somehow. Find the vehicle, remove the battery, then call the GW.

These guys drop off about 2 am ( I was sitting in my stand waiting for them and I saw 1 guy get out the truck and walk behind the truck as the truck drove off) and they are picked up before sunrise. They hunt full moon nights and it is hard to be out every full moon night and work also. The G/W is working with us on this matter but these guys are very good. Its diffinately not that I am hidding from them at all.

Thats kind of a hairy story man! 20 yards? 75 yards? Dude...I'd be firing warning shots asap. I wouldn't be putting up with anybody stalking me or my land.
