It just makes sense, people united are stronger and can do more to protect their rights.
My Dad is a life member of NRA, TSRA and North American Hunting Club. He dose't even hunt but he believes in and supports Americans rights. God Bless my dad and people like him. If I were financially able I would be a life member of all three organizations as well.
I too get a little tired of the NRA sloiciting money but, I'm grateful for all that they do.

Ha! I wouldn't buy you guys a damn thing, you anti-gunners!!! You can be a supporter of the 2nd amendment without being a member of the NRA. Your post before this called us non-members ignorant and then make the post above, pot just called the kettle black. You are something else. Tell me exactly how Im an anti-gunner. Back up your rhetoric!

Wow, some of you are just terribly ignorant.
The NRA is the #1 strongest pro-2nd Amendment lobbyist group in America. How any firearm owner won't support them is beyond me. Are they 100% right on all issues? No. But name me one person/entity that is.
If organizations like the NRA didn't exist, the 2nd Amendment would have been repealed by now. Or at the very least, severely restricted.
I urge everyone to not only join, but give out memberships as Christmas presents. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ In my way of thinking the above post is partly or entirely rhetoric. rhetoric= Meaningless language with an exaggerated style intended to impress

You and I dont like each other and most likely will never get along or agree. The remarks about the dead from the bonfire accident, just kinda turned me anti-Gus.

As a member you may only be a number, but the numbers add up. Here is a quote from the NRA site.
"While widely recognized today as a major political force and as America's foremost defender of Second Amendment rights, the NRA has, since its inception, been the premier firearms education organization in the world. But our successes would not be possible without the tireless efforts and countless hours of service our nearly four million members have given to champion Second Amendment rights and support NRA programs. As former Clinton spokesman George Stephanopoulos said, "Let me make one small vote for the NRA. They're good citizens. They call their Congressmen. They write. They vote. They contribute. And they get what they want over time."
I like the last part, "And they get what they want over time."

I get a call every other day at 8pm from them, its getting a little out of hand. Just say No. All you have to do is tell them to take you off the list the next time they call.

I am a proud member.
I personally think the greatest thing the NRA does is bring public awareness to all the bills proposed by congress that relate any way to gun laws. Cause let's face it, with today's American political system, too many politicians hide profound legislation behind other more insignificant bills.
Do you have the time to read all the bills and make sure some bs doesn't go along with like an education bill, for example? I surely don't. That is why I pay membership. in my mind, I "hire" them to sift through all the bs and let me know what has the do with potential laws that I may dislike.

im not and have no intentions of ever joining it. If i sent them a dollar i wonder what percentage would go to helping gun rights or to pay for their fancy buildings and high priced lobbyist. I think you hit the nail on the head. The high priced lobbyists, and attorneys also for that matter are EXACTLY what our money goes to pay for. I think the folks in DC can thank the NRA for their right to possess handguns in their own homes. Our money helped finance their fight.

Also a proud Life Member going on 12 winters. You know, I rarely get any mail from the NRA, maybe 3-4 pieces /year, except for the American Hunter magazine. The mail was rough when I first joined, but once I became a Life Member the mail tapered off quite a bit.
It concernes me that any hunter let "junk mail" preclude them from supporting our most powerful pro gun lobby in the world. Like them or not, they do what they do pretty well. It takes alot of $$$ to wine and dine all of the croo...er...legislators in D.C.

I am a member, but I think their choice of board members suck. When they put that draft dodging piece of human waste Ted Nugent on the board, I started throwing everything in the shredder. I save the prepaid envelopes and send them some of the shredded paper, with a note as to why they are getting it back. If they ever make him the spokesperson I will drop my membership.

It aint the junk mail that bothers me (I get that kinda crap from all kinds of organizations and places of buisnesses)! Its the fact that I donate $25 of my hard earned money only to see them blow it on postage to beg me for more money! I would be just as well off sending them $25 worth of self addresed stamped envelopes!

I see your reasoning behind the mailing, but if you want a real complaint, look at the salary and benefit package of the CEO of NRA. It totals in excess of a million dollars, I wonder what he donates back to the NRA in contributions.
