Looks like it might be the same breeder where Guy got his Dawg.

Great pictures and I'm looking forward to watching him progress.

Jim,

I have a friend who lives in Corpus. He has a labrodoodle and that thing is a duck retrieving machine. He simply won't get out of the water- loves it more than any lab I have ever seen. I mean he literally swims in the pool all day in the summer.

You may have a another duck dog there and not know it yet. If my wife had it her way, that is the next dog we would be getting. Pretty nice that they don't shed like a lab. But luckily for me, momma will not be getting her way on this one Congrats to the new addition- Cute thing indeed.

That's a tough one Cappy. Sorry to hear about your lab. I'll certainly include you in my prayers.

My old one is 12.5 and I have decided that if she gets cancer or some other debilitating disease, I'm going to let her go gracefully on her own terms. But when I see she is in pain or her quality of life is no good, I will make the call.

Cappy, you don't know me from Adam, but I love reading your posts. I'm truly sorry to hear about Cappy. Cancer is a nasty thing, be it in dogs or people. My prayers to you guys while you deal with that.

On a brighter note, that's a cute pup, there. I've always thought it would be fun to try and get a standard poodle back to it's roots as a bird dog. Then I went through this season with Belle (my golden), and trying to get those dang burs out, and I lost the desire. But, still wonder if a labradoodle out of hunting labs and performance poodels wouldn't just make a helluva retriever/house pet.

Sounds like that breeder did it right with making sure they got all the certs on the parents.

Thanks for the kind words about Cappy.

Are you aware of the fact that there are actually a number of TITLED GRAND MASTER HUNTER Standard Poodles? Seriously.

I made sure that he Doodle pup we selected had titled Labs and Poodles in the pedigree.

Seven years ago my last Bird Dawg passed. Duke was a Llewellin Setter out of King Kennels in AR and he was a dandy when he was young and before taken by mast cell cancer ... same that Cappy is fighting right now.

Setters are even worse than Goldens for being a burr and sticker magnet. Here's the 100% soloution to your problem ...

http://www.pam4you.com/pages/products/index.jsp

Get the original recipe Pam and spray your Golden's hocks, tail, armpits, ears and other areas that attract and hold burrs BEFORE you hunt. Any that do stick to him while out will slide right off in the field if you pull them or when you get home. Best part is it will wash right off with warm soap water when you clean up after. I used to spend an hour or more de-burring Duke after a hunt. Once I learned how to use the PAM it was no more than a 5-10 minute wash off.

Cappy ... At my side for thirteen years, in my heart forever.

Thanks for the tip. Actually, some members of a retriever training forum pointed me towards Show Sheen. I spray her down the night before and let her dry out over night. I didn't even end up with any burs to have to pull out, which was really surprising.

I knew there were some titled poodles out there, but I didn't know that one could say there were "a number" of them. If that's the case with your pup, then I'll be watching your pics more closely than usual, to see his progress.

Those are two that come to mind ... Good Lord I hope Rusty ends up looking like a Doodle instead of ... err ... well you know.

And guaranteed to make you smile ...

This is Cappy and Remi in late December of 2004 just before we moved to TX. Remi was just a little over 10 weeks old.

Here they are again shortly after Remi's 5th birthday in late September of 2009.

And earlier today with Cappy at age 11, Remi at 5, and Rusty at 9 weeks old.
