Build it with about a 10 ft diameter and add a few rubbing posts outside the mouth of it covered in diesel or motor oil and maybe a Schedule 80 4" PVC pipe capped on both ends with holes in it, filled with corn for the hogs to play with. You might add a sheet metal panel to the outside of the "door" to help the smaller ones push their way in also. Maybe shut down any other feeders you have working until you get rid of the hogs and keep the trap baited and just make the area as attractive as possible.

my advice would be that if u think u need to catch 20 hogs, u probably need to catch around 50.... good luck.

Use more posts than you think necessary, chicken wire the bottom edges to keep babies in and out, or mom's will go through... we finally put tops on ours to combat the climbers
Some of ours had the center posts and some did not, really no difference.
Try to get the natural traffic pattern figured out if there is one, and have the normal direction go toward the door, we had one that never caught any and decided that was the problem, they had to "turn around" rather than keep browsing...

True, and you'd be shocked at how high a pig can jump if he has to.

use panels with 4 x 4 squares.....put steel post every 4 or 5 foot......use alot of tie wire at least 5 one each post.... make sure the opening of the funnel( Post A & B) is to not wide.... the first trap we built, we put post A & B to far apart and when the pigs hit the trap were the arrow is, they bent the panel around and got out....it was a huge hog we usually make the distance between A & B 1/2 to 3/4 the distance between B & C ![](http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq210/yanta61/6trap.jpg) figure 9 traps work better that figure 6

ccbaseball, If you need any help with those hogs, I can weld and set posts, but most importantly I can sit up all night with a weapon and a spotlight... ![wink wink](/forum/images/graemlins/default/wink.gif) use panels with 4 x 4 squares..... Make sure you get the heavy panels. Some of the 4x4 panel use a lighter wire than the standard hog panels and they fall apart pretty fast. Could be that I got a bad batch, but my horses have popped the welds on some around my barn.
A thousand reasoned opinions never equal to one case of diving in and finding out.

When you think you have enough post... double that. When you think you have it tied enough to the post... double that. I had a figure 6 trap and they kept on just busting it open or picking it up. Good luck.

those are awesome drawings. I guess by the looks of it, it will take a little human force to get those two panels aligned correctly so that they r tight and have pressure on them

I just figured It would give it more strength. I overdid mine after the 2nd hog got out. I have 2 panels tied together and I think I have 15-20 Tpost. Its beefy now, but I think the door is to hard to open because of the way big boy bent it.

you live and learn i guess.....the first one i built we tied 3 panels to getter put about 6 post and tied everything with electrical wire......we had little 50 pounders getting out......
now we use 3 panels, 12 steel post, lots and lots of tie wire...
make sure and put the side of the steel post with the nobs towards the panels so the pig doesn't slide the panels up...

Great pics yanta!!
We have the exact set up, usually around a tree and make it to where the hogs have to circle around the tree. On occasion we will get some small yearlings get stuck.
That being said, I'd recommend a line attached to the entrance so you can pull open the door and "in theory" any bycatch will run out.
Happy Hunting

The door will still swing inwards (to the right in the last picture) but will not be able to get out. Don't put to much value in my experience. I haven't gotten them to go in it sinc they busted out.
