What do y'all do?

I know I got to

- pattern some shells
- clean and store some equipment
- rig decoys with clear line instead of the cheap black PVC stuff
- now would be the time to scout for a lease since the ducks are still here but I won't have the money this year
- keep practicing the calls

Those of you with land, do you tear down your blinds now? Leave them up? I assume you wait to do repairs and other labor until next fall?

I guess I'm wondering how much you do now versus how many of you rest and then pick it all back up when you start jonesing for it again next year.

Now that I have a year under my belt and have patterned my place a bit, I know where I want to build some blinds. I would like to build the shells sometime in the next 2 months....two reasons: 1) easier to do the manual labor when it's cool, 2) the natural plant growth can overgrow and naturally "brush up" my blinds

I'll start trying to drain some places if it ever stops raining. I have several dams to bust and a buttload of beaver to kill.

Dave, you will still be welcome on "my" place next year! I plan on getting my "quick set" dog "bus" blind finished. grin

I need to redo some lines on some of my dekes. I will also be building 1-2 temp blinds at our ponds.

I’m actually gonna try and spend less time on prep and more time with family. Least season I spent way too much time on prep, so I’m gonna coast a bit this season, but that is just me.

Unfortunately I do the same thing as you. I am going to do a lot of work to the boat this year. I traded my Dargel flats boat for a barn to cover the bus. I am about to make the duck boat a fish/duck/bowfish/everything boat. White bass are on the verge of a full blown blow out run up the rivers. I am on it this year.

thinking about either rebuilding a bass tracker, or trying to get a bill passed with "she who must be obeyed" and take the plunge on a new duck boat.

Other than that, work on my calling

We have burried blinds so no tear down but we do wanna add a new one. Have a few ponds/ricefields that need levee work and what not. By the time that is done then it will be time to plant some duck salad, clean the blinds out black widows and the occasional snake and its teal season again

Work on calling. Secure some private places and train dogs.

FowlDreams,

You're in on next season's wood duck eradication hunt for being a good sport about me messing with you! It's in Wills Point.

No!

The big women around there would not want the competition, and they're hostile!
