WOW!!! I was given the heads up about this thread from a friend and yes add 2 more of us to "THE LIST"!I talked to Needham several times over two months ago and then booked a hunt for myself, a friend and his son and also my young grandson.Needham really pushed the "Take a kid hunting" act on me along with his Christian values! This ploy worked well on me and my bud so we sent him deposit money after my friends dad(an attorney)did a liitle digging for us and said the guy appeared legit. However he did'nt do a CBC(criminal background check)on the guy.I don't know but maybe a CBC should be done on an outfitter before enlisting their services. I guess I don't have a true complaint until our hunting dates don't happen but from my limited research in this matter so far I think we have a better chance of winning the lottery than hunting with this guy. I will not let this slide by. I will be making the 5 hour drive to Junction in a couple weeks to camp out in the local law enforcement offices until I get some firm information. Meanwhile my bud and I don't have the guts yet to inform his young son and my grandson that their big hunting trip is not going to happen. They are going to be devastated!! IF all this bad press is true I might just bail ol' Needham out of jail and take him on a guided nighttime snipe hunt with all the "amenities".....OH and BTW...THANK YOU THF!...this seems to be the only outdoors forum that has info on this. If yall' will have me I plan on being an active member here! THANKS for the venting space...

He pulled the same take a kid hunting thing on me as well. I also have not told my 3 1/2 year old son our big hunting trip has been cancled. He will be so upset. That is all he has been talking about since we booked the hunt in april. I am more pissed about the disappointment my son will have than $1300 that I lost. I have submitted a statement and any other evidence I have to kimble county sheriffs department, though I do not have an offence until my hunt dates have come and gone I don't see them happening when the outfitter/guide is sitting in jail.

Just an update- I was also ripped off by Needham. I sent all of my info to Officer Whitaker and plan on pressing fraud charges against Needham. BUT- Praise be to Paypal. I bought a hunt from Needham on Ebay, and paid with Paypal. It took some legwork, as I had to file a claim with Paypal, but I received my $2400 back into my account today. I have been fortunate to hunt many places for many game species. This situation has been a learning experience for me. From this point on I will be very leary of any outfitter I deal with, and will NEVER place a large deposit or pay for a hunt up front. Sorry to all you good outfitters out there, but once burned twice shy. I am glad I found this forum and will book any Texas hunts based on info I get from this site, thanks.

CONGRATS barehntr!....but for me, I'm like cgd said above, it's not about the money so much as the disapointment that I'm gonna have to deal with when I tell my 7yo grandson......THAT SUX!

Cgd, did you talk to the Detective handing the Needham case? I have sent in my statement but have not heard a thing from him. My hunt dates are not until Dec14 so I may not get any info until then. If you talked to the person in charge please pass on the info you have. I need to tell the 8 guys that hunt with me something. My group paid in $500.00 each for a deposit, so that adds up to $4500.00 green backs. Needless to say I have a group of Southern gents ready to drive to Texas from here in Mississippi to form a linch mob. They are not happy to be polite.

Keith( changed my handle to 338.06 today)

I was screwed myself by Mike. Got me for $900.00 and changed the date on my check. I also had to explain to my son that the hunt will not take place. I emailed the info to Whitaker and been looking for a cheap hunt to shoot some does and everyone is booked. So much for hunting this year. I will probably never see that money again.

I am in Cal and going to Texas for the hunt is a 24 hour drive. Please give me all the info you can I would really appreciate it.

I just sat and read every post on this thread and I am literally nauseated. I hope things get better for everyone who got took and I hope that this guys gets treated so sweetly in jail that you could park a jumbo jet in his keester. For those of you who had to tell young children that their big trip was cancelled you have my deepest sympathies. I would be crushed if I had to explain that to one of my sons in a few years.

We would appreciate that, I am scheduled to drive out there on Monday the 14th. At this point, I have no intentions making that drive.

I just wanted to touch base with everyone to see if they have any updated information or how they are handling this. I have attempted to contact the district attorneys office a couple of times but have not gotten a response. Any information or guidance that you guys have on this matter would be greatly appreicated.

Guys, there's a lot of "greenhorns" posting in a short time because of a snoball effect of A LOT of folks finding out about this scam and realizing they had been conned and really this forum was the only one that had any info on it...IMO............BELIEVE ME the scam was REAL.........The det. in charge of the case was and is overwhelmed with the numbers of complaints. Mr. Needham was good at what he did. And to the folks that got ripped by this guy be sure and follow up and get your evidence such as cancelled checks, correspondence......etc to the detective so the numbers of charges keep piling up.

no offense, but i am not sure that 34 posts and "lightfoot" status gives you the street cred to question someone based solely on how many posts they have made.

that said, glad you guys are on the forum and hope you find this place as useful and fun as i have
