Looking for a collar to help me out.

Also any advice on the best one. Read up on Tritronics in someones topic.

Also what about the "No-Bark" collars? im having an issue with a stubborn lab, and now he has gotten into a non stop barking mode when outside at night. (a neighbor knocked on the door at 12 am threatening to call the law) I have to do something.

I've always used Tri-tronics but I just bought a Dogtra. I haven't had it very long but so far so good. As for a bark collar, I have 2 of the Tri-tronics bark limiter xs collars and they work great; they're not cheap but they work.

I really like my SportDog pro hunter 2500. Great range and lots of levels of correction.

I haven't seen one that is a combo. Personally there is a number of ways to break barking other than a collar. They might get it mixed up and not want to perform with a collar on. (never used a bark collar so don't know)

Several places have them look at some hound supply stores too they sometimes have great prices on them.

I'd love to hear about other ways to break barking. I use a bark collar and I have Tri Tronics Sport collar - have used them for over three years with no complaints. OBTW, my dogs don't get confused with the bark collar and their training collar. Sometimes I even use their training collar to stop them from barking while on the chain and the other dogs are training. As far as best price, check Ebay - lots of sellers there with new collars.

I agree, if collar conditioning is done correctly there should be no confusion.

ok made my mind up on going with the sport dog 1825 for a training collar.

as far as no bark collars go, the tritronic collar dosnt seem as versitile as the sport dog sbc 10 collar.

i guess there both water proof,

I'd go dogtra or tritronics. I personally use dogtra.

Have heard some not so good things about the sportdog.

my sport dog holds up just fine though swamp and muck alike. Plus their warranty is just as good as Tri-Tronics it just doesn't cost your first born. I really like mine. 1 1/2mile range and it does every bit of it. Plus mine can be expanded to 5 collars, with momentary, continuous, and sound correction....both the transmitter and receiver are guaranteed to be water proof...but I haven't had issues.

Houndsmen really beat the crap out of collars due the places our dogs go and the conditions they hunt in. So if it works for me it will work for a birder for quite some time.

You bought a great video.... Hope your collar works???

There's a reason sport dog isn't used by pro's.... But anyway,,, if it doesn't work you can send it back and buy something else. Dogtra or Tri-tronics...

Good Luck!!!

Sport dog is used by pros, maybe not the ones you know, but they have a pro staff too. It's all bout affordability and what each person can afford. I've owned both and as far as price for performance my ProHunter 2500 is the best I've owned.

Here's a link to their prostaff section

Best of luck man.

I recently switched to the SD 1825 and I can't see using anything else. I love the flexibilty of being able to program it to exactly the way I want things set up.

ok at the risk of stirring up a bunch of carp why do you need a shock collar? why not kennel the dog in the house at night?

also I may be VERY lucky but to this point I have yet to find that I need one??? I am on my 3rd dog now... is there a real use for them? I know that hunting for the better part of 30 years, I have seen them misused 90% of the time and alot of dogs got trained before the technology was available.

i agree nogeese about training without them, kenneling at night (which i do 99%) but i am desperate and willing to give it a shot. he pics up on retrieving and training with hunting. but general obedience is a So B, i need that more than anything out of him. thats where we will be starting. ill be giving it a shot if he dosnt respond then we will go back to what i am doing.

when you have 5 coon hounds I not going to kennel them in the house they belong outside and I sometimes will use a shock collar to keep them quite in the pens. for the most part it only takes a few times then they stop barking in the pens..

If you don't use an e-collar how do you give corrections when the dog is out in the field?

If the dog is trained right, there is no need to.

If its needed, go back to yard work

Wow! That is a very bold statement!!! You've just stated that the majority (I won't say all) of the pro's out there don't properly train dogs! I've trained with some of the best pro's out there and they (the pro's that I've trained with) all use e-collars for corrections in the field.
