Whichever one you have complete confidence in!!!

Mine is a GAPrecision Custom built Winchester M70 Classic in a McMillan HTG in 30-06.

I guess this is a good place to start the 30.06 or 270 debate

I use a 30-06, but growing up the 270 was pretty awesome to.

A good Remington 700 in 308 or 270 is hard to beat. 308 gives you a better choice of bullets while the 270 will give a litle better down range trajectory. There are so many add ons for the Remmy 700 if you want to enhance performance. Either will provide you a rifle to build confidence to cleanly take game and last you a lifetime with proper care.

x2 as far as rifle brand... Welcome to the 21st century... Most are very accurate out of the box,

In Red River County... hard pressed to beat a Remington 750 semi auto Carbine in 308....hard hitting caliber, reliable in brush, easy to handle, very durable, good out of a truck window...

25-06 for me also. I am thinking of getting a 270 or 280 this year but haven't made up my mind yet! confused2

I have one of those and it won't shoot two bullets with-in three inches of each other. Somebody told me once it was because the barrel gets hot. I don't shoot it anymore because I'm afraid it might fail.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea

What will you take for it?

What ammo were you shooting? THe shorter barrel can be finnicky. Was it one of the new 750's or an older 742 or 740. Some of them were sprayers, but the 750's we have dealt with are tack drivers with 165 Sierra GameKings or 150 Fusion or 150 Federal Classic.

I killed an Auodad at 265 a year ago with my, several others since then. It's become my most commonly carried long gun...

If I only could use one, it would be my Remington 700 BDL 270 w/Leupold 3X9.

Whatever you own that's between a 243 and a 375 and you can hit a beer can every time at 150 yards.

Now, if you're asking me what I'd buy if I did not currently own a rifle suitable for deer...

Weatherby Vanguard in either 25-06, 257 Wby Mag, 270 Win, 308 Win, 30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm Wby Mag, 300 Win Mag, or 300 Wby Mag.

Silver spurs and gold tequila

The beauty of the Second Ammendment is it won't be needed until they try and take it.
